The Challenge to Solve
Backend engineers at Slice design, implement, and run in production the foundational platforms that power our applications.Your code will power services that connect pizza makers with an increasing number of pizza eaters.
The Role
In this role, you will help refine the direction of the backend team and build large scale platforms optimised for durability, latency and fault tolerance. There are several Core Services at Slice that relate directly to both our shop partners and consumers, and this role focuses on ensuring those services are continually enhanced from an architectural perspective. The work here is important as it empowers other teams to build on top of the existing services. You will become a resident expert of services at Slice, and help drive adoption and innovation of those services to help consumer facing engineering teams. This role reports to a Lead Engineer.
The Team
Your day-to-day team would include a collaborative group of Golang, Python and Ruby Engineers, working remotely and/or in-person at our offices in New York City and Belfast. The backend team is the foundational layer in which others build and rely on. The team is responsible for the ongoing improvement of integral Core Services covering everything from menu services, location services, shop related services and more. You will become a member of a small, yet mighty squad tasked with the enhancement of important areas in the Slice architecture.

- 5+ years of industry experience building high quality code and services
- Backend experience in one or more languages (Python, Ruby on Rails and Golang are all part of the daily tech stack)
