As a Sr. Sales Engineer in the west, you will develop and nurture relationships with customers across the region, presenting Illumio's solutions through live presentations, webinars, and trade shows.  You will help to create mutually valuable deals by enlisting discovery skills and tailoring technology proofing activities such as demos and POVs throughout the sales cycle.  Your performance will be measured against revenue expectations, customer adoption, and your ability to maintain proficiency in cybersecurity domains, Illumio’s products, and salesmanship.  You will be surrounded and uplifted by other such professionals in a fun and rewarding culture of “Illumineers” that seek to win.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop and nurture both technical and executive relationships across the territory to influence preference for Illumio’s solutions

  • Effectively present solutions via live presentations and remote webinars and assist with trade shows, expos, and symposiums

  • Uncover the customer’s desired business outcomes and orient all activities in the sales process to these outcomes

  • Deliver powerful demos driven by use cases and customer stories

  • Support deal progression and POVs as needed via in-person or remote meetings

  • Author blog posts, white papers and other thought leading pieces on behalf of Illumio for the security industry

  • Assist partners in their enablement pursuits and on deals to maximize mutual benefit

  • Advocate for customers on future feature development and support

Experience:

  • 10+ years of industry experience with at least 5 years in a pre-sales capacity handling enterprise accounts

  • Expert knowledge in one or more of the following areas: cloud migration strategies, services offered by the major Cloud Service Providers (CSPs), cloud native development, containers and orchestration, and Infrastructure as Code

  • Understanding of the software development lifecycle (SDLC) and tooling, especially for cloud native applications

  • Development or scripting experience preferred. Knowledge of how to use APIs and methods a plus.

  • Industry certifications preferred (e.g. CISSP, CCSP, CCIE, AWS Certified Security Specialty Certification, Microsoft Certified Azure Security Engineer Associate, Certified Kubernetes Security Specialist, etc.)

  • Knowledge of risk-based security assessments and frameworks

  • Experience administering Windows and Linux

  • Outstanding presentation skills to both technical and executive audiences, whether impromptu on a whiteboard or using presentations and demos

  • Ability to connect a customer’s specific business problems to Illumio’s solutions

  • University degree in computer science, engineering, mathematics or related fields, or equivalent experience preferred

Pay Range:

Base Salary $148,000 USD - $178,500 USD

As a Staff Security Engineer on our Detection and Response team, you will help detect and respond to threats for one of the biggest online platforms in the world that handles massive amounts of traffic at very low latency.

We are looking for a teammate with expertise in both security engineering and operations and that values the complement between the two. You will have the opportunity to build and integrate tooling and detections, as well as investigate threats and lead incidents. As part of the larger Security organization, we make risk-informed decisions and prioritize automations to help us scale. As the lead engineer on our team, you will design, build, and mature our detection and response program, enabling rapid detection and effective response to threats against Fastly. You will lead large, complex, cross-team projects and mentor other security engineers on our growing team. 

What You'll Do:

  • Lead the design and implementation of a robust Detection Engineering program
  • Develop detections and other analytics to identify threats across cloud, corporate, and edge environments
  • Partner closely with Engineering, Security Architecture, Risk Management, Compliance, and other teams to prioritize detections and delivery of other security initiatives
  • Triage and investigate security threats and lead security incidents
  • Research, evaluate, implement, and maintain a variety of custom and commercial security tools, such as Endpoint Detection and Response (EDR), anti-phishing, and Security Information and Event Monitoring (SIEM)
  • Develop strategies, frameworks, designs, automations, metrics, and processes to support the maturity of the Detection and Response program
  • Develop and maintain incident response playbooks and other detection and response documentation
  • Conduct threat hunts to discover unknown malicious activity across our environment
  • Participate in our on-call rotations
  • Mentor other team members and contribute to larger Security initiatives

What We're Looking For:

  • Expertise in utilizing Splunk to include investigating threats, developing metrics and dashboards, normalizing data feeds, and integrating with other tools
  • Strong understanding of attacker tactics, techniques, and procedures (TTPs) and investigating advanced threats
  • Experience in implementing “Detection as Code”
  • Experience in securing, developing detections, and responding to incidents in one major public cloud infrastructure, such as Amazon Web Services (AWS) or Google Cloud Platform (GCP)
  • Experience in effectively leading large and complex security incidents from detection to remediation
  • Familiarity with modern security frameworks and best practices, such as the MITRE ATT&CK framework and NIST CSF
  • Proficiency in one or more general purpose programming languages such as Python, Ruby, Go, or Rust
  • Experience with Linux administration at scale, associated intrusion/manipulation techniques, and standard methodologies for system hardening and process isolation

We’ll be super impressed if you have experience in any of these: 

  • Built a Detection Engineering pipeline
  • Built and led threat hunts
  • Published research on detection engineering or threat intelligence
  • Developed automations to improve security operations
  • Familiarity with content delivery networks (CDN), edge cloud platforms, or other Fastly products and services

Work Hours:

  • This position will require you to be available during core business hours.

Salary: 

The estimated salary range for this position is $167,790 to $209,740.

Starting salary may vary based on permissible, non-discriminatory factors such as experience, skills, qualifications, and location.

Role Responsibilities

  • Work with teams in an agile environment to design, develop, and test Self-Service Private Cloud infrastructure delivery platforms using modern cloud delivery concepts.
  • Collaborate with software engineers and architects to design and implement secure private cloud infrastructure for multiple Experian application environments.
  • Identify and deploy cloud services that meet specific technical requirements.
  • Partner with business teams to define technical requirements for modernization of legacy applications and systems and conversion to infrastructure as code deployment models (CICD Pipelines, Terraform, Ansible)

What You’ll Do

  • Remotely install, upgrade, operate and maintain bare-metal Kubernetes clusters (up to thousands of nodes each)
  • Handle cluster degradation, recovery and resizing using our fleet management tooling
  • Perform out-of-hours on-call response for critical incidents as part of a well-balanced on-call rotation
  • Work on improving our tooling, automation, and processes, for both daily operations, alerting, and incident response
  • Dive into systems at a low level to solve unique cluster problems and write up your findings
  • Assist customers with high-level Kubernetes questions and integration with applications, storage and authentication
  • Assist with initial cluster build-outs and validation to help identify failed hardware before customer delivery
  • Work closely with our HPC Ops and Datacenter Ops teams on issues that require lower-level expertise or cross-functional solutions
  • Mentor and assist less-experienced team members
  • Have a voice in our product direction and help us think about how to minimize operational costs and complexity

You

  • Are an experienced operations engineer, SRE, sysadmin or similar with a deep knowledge of running Linux clusters and systems
  • Are very familiar with running on bare-metal (including knowledge of BMCs, kernel drivers, PXE, RAID, VLANs, hypervisors)
  • Have a good understanding of containers, virtualisation, and the mechanisms underpinning them
  • Have a good understanding of daily operation, bug-fixing and maintenance of Kubernetes
  • Have experience in an on-call environment and with incident response
  • Can perform incident post-mortems and develop procedures and tooling to prevent root causes from reoccurring
  • Have an excellent ability to learn on-the-fly and adapt to solve problems
  • Are able to work either independently with limited direction, or as part of a team
  • Are able to work with customers during incidents either via tickets, live messaging, or as part of a larger call.

The Cybersecurity Administrator, Principal role coordinates, administers, monitors, and maintains the technology that support Cybersecurity Operations. ROLE RESPONSIBILITIES      
  • Implement and manage endpoint security solutions to protect systems from malware, unauthorized access, and data breaches.
  • Designing, managing, and auditing access to cybersecurity technology solutions using concepts of least privilege and RBAC.
  • Oversees, applies, and advises on the implementation of patches, firmware upgrades, configuration changes, and security updates to systems, servers, and software applications for cybersecurity technology.
  • Acts as liaison with IT teams for guidance and troubleshooting as the subject matter expert for cybersecurity tools and implementations.
  • Implement security hardening best practices (CIS, NIST, etc.) for cybersecurity technology applications and supporting infrastructure (servers, public cloud, databases, etc.).
  • Develop and maintain solution design, procedural, and architectural documentation for cybersecurity solutions.
  • Oversee and guide the research, assessment, and implementation of new products and services required to support cybersecurity operations.
  • Handle day-to-day implementation, monitoring and operational support of hardware, software, customer applications, managed solutions, and service provider relationships.
  • Work in tandem with architects, the security operations center (SOC), incident responders, and information technology infrastructure and development team members.
  • Collaborate with vendors for procurement and support.
  • Assist with incident response and system stability issues as they occur. This may include involvement outside of regular work hours, and responsiveness is expected.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS      
  • Bachelor’s degree in information technology, Information Security/Assurance, Computer Science, Engineering, or related field or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • 6-8+ years’ experience in cybersecurity, with a system administration and/or security engineering background.
  • Highly technical and analytical expertise, with a proven deep background in technology design, deployment, implementation, and delivery.
  • Solid understanding of cybersecurity principles, best practices, and frameworks, such as NIST Cybersecurity Framework and CIS Controls
  • Working knowledge of Windows, Linux, and Unix (macOS) operating systems.
  • Experience researching, deploying, tracking, and maintaining security technology across a large enterprise infrastructure.
  • Strong communication skills with a customer service mindset when interfacing with internal and external users.
  • Ability to work independently and prioritize tasks in a fast-paced, dynamic environment
PREFERRED QUALIFICATION      
  • Expert level knowledge and experience administering Microsoft Defender for Endpoint.
  • Expert level knowledge and experience administering vulnerability management solutions (Rapid7 insightVM, Tenable, Qualys, etc.).
  • Experience administering SIEM systems, threat intelligence platforms, threat intelligence, security automation and orchestration solutions, IDS/IPS, file integrity monitoring (FIM), data loss prevention (DLP) and/or other network and system monitoring tools.
  • Experience with operations and security across Amazon Web Services (AWS) and/or Microsoft Azure
  • Experience managing large scale technology projects
