About the Role

The Legal Operations Lead, eBilling & Outside Counsel Management, is a critical role for the DoorDash Legal team. On a typical day, you will work with attorneys and paralegals to negotiate engagement letters, onboard new law firms, ensure invoices meet the requirements of our billing policy, resolve billing disputes, and solve complex problems related to maintaining the legal team’s budget.. 

This position calls for a self-starter who wants to innovate and be part of a dynamic, fast-moving team. The right individual is a self-starter, problem solver, team builder, and a subject matter expert who is always looking for ways to help the team become more efficient. The ideal candidate has technical and operational experience, which they can rely on to help them make informed decisions related to managing outside counsel and our eBilling platform. This role will report to the Chief of Staff, Legal.

You're excited about this opportunity because you will...

  • Oversee the relationship with outside counsel and other legal-facing vendors and assist with related billing, invoicing, and payment processes.
  • Manage the vendor payment process using our e-billing software, partnering with the Finance and Accounting teams to manage the accruals processes for the team’s spend.
  • Optimize and enhance the use of technology to manage department spend in accordance with our Outside Counsel Billing Policy.
  • Leverage data through metrics and dashboards, and draw meaningful insights that can be relied upon by department leadership and your Finance business partners.
  • Negotiate the department’s engagement letters and retainer agreements, and hold external parties accountable to their terms.
  • Assist the Legal Leadership Team with developing and implementing the annual budget and forecast..
  • Assist with departmental people processes, such as onboarding new employees and contractors, and providing assistance as requested on special projects, like team communications and paying state bar dues.

Compensation

The location-specific base salary range for this position is listed below.  Compensation in other geographies may vary.

Actual compensation within the pay range will be decided based on factors including, but not limited to, skills, prior relevant experience, and specific work location.  For roles that are available to be filled remotely, base salary is localized according to employee work location.  Please discuss your intended work location with your recruiter for more information.

What you'll do...

  • Accurately process medical claims using electronic billing software. This includes entering billing codes, patient information, and insurance information into the system and ensuring that claims are submitted to insurance companies promptly and accurately.
  • Verify patient insurance coverage and eligibility prior to submitting claims. This will involve contacting insurance companies to obtain information on coverage and eligibility and ensuring that claims are submitted to the correct insurance company.
  • Investigate and resolve denied claims by identifying the denied claims and the reason for denial, and taking the appropriate steps to resolve the issue. This may involve contacting insurance companies to appeal denied claims or working with healthcare providers to ensure that claims are resubmitted with the correct information.
  • Communicate clearly and directly with patients to resolve billing issues by answering billing-related questions including explaining billing policies and procedures to patients, helping patients understand their insurance coverage, and setting up payment plans for patients who are unable to pay their bills in full.
  • Follow up on unpaid claims and appeals by tracking unpaid claims, contacting insurance companies to inquire about payment, and appealing denied claims as needed.
  • Stay up-to-date on changes on billing regulations and requirements by staying up-to-date on changes in billing regulations and requirements by attending training sessions or reading industry publications to stay informed about the current state of coding and billing regulations.
  • Maintain accurate and organized billing records by tracking billing codes, patient information, insurance information, and ensuring that records are up-to-date and easily accessible.

    What you'll need...

    • High school diploma or equivalent (Associate's or Bachelor's degree in healthcare or related field preferred):
    • At least 2 years of experience in medical billing and coding.
    • Experience with electronic billing software is preferred.

      Job Purpose

        • Monitor vendor's technology for data collection and panel management (e.g. mobile app, panelist communication, social media) to manage risks related to data quality, fraud, legal & privacy governance and brand reputation. 
      • Oversees the management of the incentive payments and the review of the detailed input for the creation of PO's, invoices, and payment processing
      • In BAU operations, review KPIs with DSci and drive conversations with Vendors for KPI improvements wherever needed.

      Qualifications

      What we’re looking for…

      We are seeking a dedicated and experienced individual to join our finance team as an Order-to-Cash and Revenue Recognition Manager. The role is responsible for managing the end-to-end order-to-cash process, ensuring compliance with revenue recognition guidelines under ASC 606, and managing accounts receivable using NetSuite. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in revenue accounting, extensive knowledge of ASC 606, and proficiency in NetSuite or similar ERP systems. This role has 2 direct reports.

       

      What you’ll be doing…

      Order-to-Cash Management:

      • Manage the order-to-cash process, including order entry, invoicing, billing, collections, and cash application.
      • Work closely with sales, operations, and customer service teams to streamline order processing and ensure timely and accurate invoicing.
      • Monitor order backlog, shipments, and delivery schedules to facilitate accurate billing and revenue recognition.
      • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to resolve order-related issues and optimize the order-to-cash cycle.
      • Manage Salesforce to NetSuite integration.

      2. Revenue Recognition:

      • Ensure compliance with ASC 606 revenue recognition standards for all customer contracts and sales transactions.
      • Review sales contracts and agreements to determine appropriate revenue recognition treatment.
      • Utilize NetSuite Advanced Revenue Management module for automated revenue recognition
      • Prepare memos and documentation supporting revenue recognition decisions
      • Maintain Standalone Selling Price documentation

      3. Accounts Receivable Management with NetSuite:

      • Utilize NetSuite or similar ERP system to manage accounts receivable processes, including customer invoicing, collections, and credit management.
      • Monitor accounts receivable aging and proactively follow up on past due accounts to ensure timely payment.
      • Work closely with customers to resolve billing discrepancies and disputes in a timely manner.
      • Generate and analyze accounts receivable reports to identify trends, variances, and opportunities for improvement.

      4. System Optimization and Integration:

      • Identify opportunities to optimize and streamline order-to-cash processes within NetSuite.
      • Collaborate with IT and finance teams to implement system enhancements, integrations, and automation solutions to improve efficiency and accuracy.
      • Provide training and support to users on NetSuite functionalities related to order-to-cash and revenue recognition.

       

       

      Qualities you possess…


      • Bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, or related field.
      • CPA designation preferred.
      • 5+ years of experience in revenue accounting, order-to-cash management, and accounts receivable.
      • Deep understanding of ASC 606 revenue recognition standards and their application to various business scenarios.
      • Proficiency in NetSuite or similar ERP systems.
