Position Overview:

The ideal candidate is an experienced backend engineer specializing in search functionality and data analytics to join our innovative team. In this role, you will be responsible for architecting, developing, and maintaining APIs that power search capabilities and analytics features within a variety of internal-facing applications. You will lead a small team of backend developers and data engineers and collaborate closely with cross-functional teams to understand requirements, design scalable solutions, and ensure the performance and reliability of our APIs.

Responsibilities:

  • Design, develop, and maintain high-performance APIs to support search functionality and analytics features
  • Conduct thorough testing and debugging of APIs to identify and resolve issues promptly.
  • Monitor API performance and implement optimizations to enhance scalability and reliability.
  • Work closely with front-end as well as back-end developers to integrate APIs seamlessly into their web and mobile applications.
  • Collaborate with product managers, data scientists, and other stakeholders to understand requirements and translate them into technical specifications.
  • Provide technical guidance and support to junior developers. Perform code reviews and lead technical discussions with your team.
  • Document API functionalities, usage, and best practices for internal and external stakeholders.

Requirements :

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or related field is preferred.
  • Proven experience (5 years) in API development with a focus on search functionality and data analytics.
  • Proficiency in backend programming languages, especially JavaScript/TypeScript and Python.
  • Strong understanding of search engines (e.g., OpenSearch, Elasticsearch, Solr).
  • Experience with API design principles, RESTful APIs, and GraphQL.
  • Experience with authentication and authorization (e.g. OAuth and Okta).
  • Experience with databases and data warehouses, especially PostgreSQL and Snowflake.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to analyze complex systems to identify solutions.
  • Outstanding communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to work effectively in a team environment.
  • Familiarity with agile development methodologies and tools (e.g., JIRA, Git).
  • Attention to detail and a commitment to writing clean, maintainable code.
  • Experience with cloud platforms (e.g., AWS, Azure) and containerization technologies (e.g., Docker, Kubernetes).
  • Experience with Linux environments, shell scripting, and command-line tools.

About the Team

In this role, you will be focused on the build out and expansion of our global infrastructure. You'll work closely with Cloudflare’s SRE (Site Reliability Engineering) team, Network Engineering team, Infrastructure Engineering team, Project Managers and with various vendors and partners (including hardware vendors, logistics, datacenter and network providers, and ISPs). You will further be responsible for the development and implementation of consistent processes and visibility measurements for consistent and effective management of our infrastructure. This is a highly visible position that requires deep technical understanding of datacenter infrastructure, physical and logical networking, linux, and basic experience with data analysis and project management.

To be successful in this position, you should have excellent technical skills, communication skills, and be able to navigate a range of challenges and constraints (e.g. schedule adherence, time zones, and cultures). You will have the opportunity to (literally) build a faster, safer Internet for our millions of users and the billions of web surfers that visit their sites each month.

Other Responsibilities May Include

  • Provisioning, monitoring and maintaining hardware, software, and network in new Cloudflare data centers.
  • Creating documentation and managing remote contractors to complete datacenter installations and upgrades (rack and stack), including hardware manufacturers, datacenter and network providers, logistics partners and other service providers in support of our 275+ growing datacenter locations
  • Aggressively seek opportunities to introduce cutting-edge technology and automation solutions that are effective, efficient and scalable in order to improve our ability to deploy and maintain our global infrastructure.
  • Planning and implementing network and server installations, including in the areas of facility power (AC/DC), cooling, security/access, rack layout and cable management.
  • Providing technical leadership and guidance during deployment activities.
  • Creating and maintaining documentation, plans, SOP’s, MOP’s etc.
  • Collaborating with internal teams (infrastructure engineering, network engineering and SRE) for day to day activities. 
  • Coordinating installation of cross-connects globally in support of physical network expansion.
  • Assisting with the definition, documentation and implementation of consistent processes across all regions.

Required Experience

  • Minimum of 3 years of prior relevant experience in Data Center Operations, Site Reliability Engineering, Linux systems administration, Network Engineering, and/or DevOps experience
  • Familiarity with day-to-day tasks and projects common in Data Center Operations.
  • Experience with optical transport technologies such as CWDM/DWDM
  • Configuration management tool experience like Saltstack, Chef, Puppet or Ansible
  • Network hardware administration.
  • Knowledge and exposure to Network Protocols, Topologies and Enterprise architecture. 
  • Experience writing network configuration and design documentation.
  • Experience solving problems through automation.
  • Ability to write scripts for internal tools.
  • Experience running and improving operational processes in a rapidly changing environment.

Examples of desirable skills, knowledge and experience

  • Bachelor’s degree, technical background in engineering, computer science, or MIS a plus.
  • Direct experience executing on datacenter / infrastructure projects with many moving parts.

  • Professional level network certification(s) (JNCIP, CCNP, etc) or higher

  • Load balancing and reverse proxies such as Nginx, Varnish, HAProxy, Apache
  • Proficient in one or more programming languages and willing to learn new ones when required

Qualifications

  • Understanding of the Symfony frameworkwould be advantageous.
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills, with a proactive and self-motivated attitude
  • Experience with MySQL projects
  • Knowledge ofDevOps practices and experience with containerization technologies, especially Kubernetes, is a plus.
  • Experience  in PHP programming and object-oriented design principles, with a track record of working on  scalable web applications.

Preferred Qualifications: 

  • At least 8 years of total experience with 2+ years managing software engineering teams 
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills 
  • Has navigated teams through adverse situations, either successfully or unsuccessfully 
  • Well versed in modern development techniques and automated testing strategies 

Extra Credit: 

  • Trained in Agile methodologies, preferably Scrum 
  • Working knowledge of Amazon Web Services 
  • Well versed in JIRA and Confluence
  • Experience working with Mautic

En tant qu'analyste QA, vous jouerez un rôle essentiel en assurant la qualité et la fiabilité de nos produits SaaS et de notre application mobile. Dans un environnement de développement agile, vous serez responsable de réaliser maunellement les tests, de revoir à la fois les tâches des développeurs et des histoires d'utilisateurs, et vous participerez activement aux réunions de planification et d'analyse des sprints.

Ce que vous ferez:

  • Examiner les tâches des développeurs et les histoires d'utilisateurs : Veiller à ce que les tâches des développeurs et les récits des utilisateurs soient bien rédigés, contiennent toutes les informations nécessaires et respectent les normes de qualité. En ce sens, vous collaborez avec l'équipe de développement pour clarifier les exigences.
  • Participer au développement (en mode agile) : Vous serez inclus dans tous les processus, y compris la planification des sprints, les stand-ups quotidiens et les rétrospectives de sprints. Fournir de précieuses indications en matière d'assurance qualité et assurer une communication efficace au sein de l'équipe de développement.
  • Effectuer des tests manuels : Effectuer des tests manuels approfondis sur nos produits SaaS web et nos applications mobiles afin d'identifier les défauts, les incohérences et les points à améliorer.
  • Documenter les cas de test : Créer et maintenir des cas de test complets, des scripts et des plans de test pour assurer une couverture de test étendue.
  • Travailler en étroite collaboration avec d'autres analystes QA afin de partager les meilleures pratiques, les connaissances et les points de vue; Le tout en favorisant une culture d'apprentissage et d'amélioration continue.
  • Tester les API : Effectuer des tests d'API et valider l'intégrité des données pour s'assurer que nos applications communiquent efficacement.
  • Reporting et communication: Documenter et communiquer clairement les résultats des tests, les problèmes et les observations à l'équipe de développement, afin de permettre une résolution rapide.
  • Optimisation des processus : Contribuer de manière proactive à l'amélioration de nos processus, méthodes et outils d'assurance qualité, dans le but d'accroître nos compétences de test à l'échelle globale.

Qualifications

Qui êtes-vous?

  • Vous avez une expérience en tests manuels dans un environnement de développement agile.
  • Vous comprenez la méthodologie Agile et le rôle de QA dans le cycle de vie du développement logiciel.
  • Vous avez des connaissances techniques de base, notamment en matière de tests d'API, et êtes familier avec les principes de test.
  • Vous êtes familier avec les outils de gestion des tests tels que Jira, Xray.
  • Vous êtes familier avec des outils tels que Figma Postman, Swagger, Chrome DevTools et SQL Server Management Studio.
  • Vous avez de solides compétences en matière d'analyse et de résolution de problèmes.
  • Vous faites preuve d'excellentes compétences en matière de communication et de collaboration.
  • Vous prêtez attention aux détails et savez documenter efficacement les cas de test.
  • Vous connaissez les outils et pratiques d'automatisation de l'assurance qualité et de l'expérience en matière de tests mobiles(un atout).
