In this role you will play a crucial role in developing cutting-edge infrastructure tools for deploying and managing resources across diverse regions seamlessly. You will be responsible for designing, developing, and maintaining automation tools utilized by hundreds of engineers, ensuring efficient and reliable deployment practices through innovative automation and observability solutions. 

Responsibilities: 

  • Design, develop, and maintain automation tools for orchestrating the deployment of services across various regions. 
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to gather requirements and provide feedback on existing infrastructure automation systems. 
  • Architect and implement innovative solutions to automate validation processes and enable fully-automated deployments. 
  • Develop and maintain integrations with Microsoft proprietary and cloud-native deployment frameworks. 
  • Design and implement observability tools to enable application teams to collect telemetry and monitor the health of compute clusters. 
  • Ensure scalability, reliability, and performance of automation tools to meet the evolving needs of the organization. 
  • Provide technical guidance and mentorship to junior team members. 

Qualifications: 

  • Bachelor's degree in computer science, software engineering, or relevant field required. 
  • Minimum of 8 years of experience in software engineering, with a focus on infrastructure automation. 
  • Strong proficiency in C#. 
  • Experience with containerization technologies such as Docker and container orchestration platforms like Kubernetes. 
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and ability to thrive in a fast-paced, collaborative environment. 
  • Familiarity with cloud computing principles and experience with cloud platforms such as Azure, AWS, or Google Cloud Platform. 
  • Knowledge of infrastructure-as-code tools such as ARM, Bicep, Terraform, Ansible, or Puppet. 
  • Experience with continuous integration/continuous deployment (CI/CD) pipelines and related tools. 
  • Effective communication skills and ability to collaborate with cross-functional teams. 

Preferred Qualifications: 

  • Experience with proprietary deployment frameworks such as Azure Resource Manager (ARM) and Ev2. 
  • Familiarity with observability tools and practices such as Prometheus, Grafana, or ELK stack. 

 

Salary Range 

Pay ranges vary based on multiple factors including, without limitation, skill sets, education, responsibilities, experience, and geographical market. The pay range for this position reflects geographic based ranges for Washington state: $138,000 to $146,000 USD/annually. The salary/wage and job title for this opening will be based on the selected candidate’s qualifications and experience and may be outside this range.

This person will sit on the Requirements and Analysis team within the Product Safety and Release organization. The Senior Systems Engineer - Safety will analyze hazards and risks, perform safety analyses, derive requirements, and develop the safety case for autonomous driving. 

What You'll Do

  • Collaborate with the Product and System Engineering teams to identify and evaluate hazards related to Safety Of The Intended Functionality (SOTIF according to ISO 21448).
  • Support analysis and evaluation of Acceptance Criteria for identified SOTIF hazards.
  • Collaborate with the Product and System Engineering teams to perform the hazard analysis and risk assessment (HARA) according to ISO 26262.
  • Analyze and evaluate the Fault Tolerant Time Interval (FTTI) for identified hazards.
  • Perform inductive and deductive safety analyses for system, hardware, and software.
  • Contribute to the development of the Safety Case including definition and tracking of Safety Performance Indicators.
  • Work with internal business partners such as the Systems Engineering team to establish alignment on safety processes and methods. 
  • Conduct and support reviews of safety artifacts applying appropriate level of rigor to review process.

What You’ll Need to Succeed: 

  • Degree(s) in Mechanical Engineering, Systems Engineering, Robotics, Electrical Engineering, or a related technical field with relevant experience.
    • PHD with 5+ years of experience.
    • Master of Science degree with 7+ years of experience.
    • Bachelor of Science degree and 10+ years of experience. 
  • Extensive experience with safety analyses such as HAZOP, FMEA, STPA, and FTA. 
  • Solid understanding of industry standards and best practices related to autonomous technologies.   
  • Demonstrated experience working according to key industry standards such as Functional Safety (ISO 26262) and Safety Of The Intended Functionality (ISO 21448). 
  • Systems thinking with underlying engineering knowledge of the complex physical and software systems used in autonomy technologies. 
  • Knowledge in the following disciplines: software engineering, networking, electrical and mechanical systems, system components, and artificial intelligence/machine learning. 
  • Position requires occasional travel to Torc locations, government locations, etc.

  • Develop and review test policies and test strategies for the company.
  • Plan the test activities based on test objectives and risks.
  • Coordinate the test plans with project managers, development managers, agile teams and others.
  • Initiate the analysis, design, implementation, and execution of tests, monitor test progress, results and check the status of exit criteria (or definition of done).
  • Prepare and deliver test progress reports and test summary reports.
  • Introduce suitable metrics for measuring test progress and evaluating the quality of the testing.
  • Report any findings, defects or ambiguities, and help with the prioritization and criticality definition.
  • Support the selection and implementation of tools to support the test process.
  • Promote and advocate the testers, the test team, and the test profession within the organization.
  • Coach the team to improve technical skills.

  • Collaborate with peers and stake-holders to create new tools/process/technology.  We use the latest technology from AWS and you can experiment, recommend, and implement new technologies in our build and CI system.
  • Work with internal customers to roll-out projects and process, monitor adoption, collect feedback, and fine-tune the project to respond to internal customers’ needs.

Requirements:

  • 3+ years of experience with one or more programming languages including Python, Go, Java, Javascript 
  • Good understanding of application development, micro services architecture and successful elements of a multi-service ecosystem
  • Ability to coordinate cross-functional work towards task completion.
  • Understanding of Agile methodologies is a plus.
  • Past experience working on AWS or K8S

As a Sales Systems & Tools Manager within the Commercial Excellence organization, you will play a key role in building the tools and processes needed to scale our business, and ultimately contributing to Instacart’s growth and success. 

About the Role

As a Sales Systems & Tools Manager, you will act as a liaison between the technical and non-technical departments. You will partner cross functionally with IT and business teams to design, implement, and maintain best-in-class technology solutions for Instacart’s Ads and Retail businesses. You will manage the day-to-day operations of the tools platform, including sales support on Salesforce and integrated third-party tools. In this role, you will also help influence the strategy for Instacart’s sales tools ecosystem to meet the growing needs of the business. 

About the Team

The Commercial Excellence - Sales Capabilities & Strategy (SC&S) team empowers our sales teams by leveraging technology, data, and strategic insights to achieve operational efficiency and revenue growth. Systems & Tools (S&T) sits within SC&S, and is responsible for defining and executing the tooling strategy for sales enablement and effectiveness programs at Instacart. Overview:
