Executive Business Administrators (EBAs) at GitLab toggle seamlessly between various systems including Google Workspace, Slack, Zoom, Navan, and GitLab to accomplish an array of tasks, while staying focused on prioritization and escalating urgent issues. 

EBAs at GitLab are self-driven, collaborative, and agile team members who are experienced in managing multiple priorities, juggling various responsibilities, and anticipating the executive’s needs. They are exceptionally organized, relentlessly resourceful, calm under pressure, and strategic multitaskers with a deep love of logistics and the ability to thrive in a dynamic start-up environment.

What you'll do 

• Support and work closely with GitLab’s VP of Infrastructure and Senior Director of Engineering
• Own and proactively manage a complex, changing, high-volume calendar across multiple time zones and travel schedules; ensure VP + Sr Dir are prepared for every meeting 
• Make recommendations for the Executive in regard to their time management, prioritization, delegation and organization
• Seamlessly coordinate domestic and international travel including air and ground transportation, hotel reservations, security, visas and other travel documentation for team on-sites. Accompanying the Executive when necessary.
• Run cadence of weekly staff meetings and other important meetings, including planning agenda, organization, and follow-up on action items, while infusing our company values throughout
• Plan events such as team off-sites, team building activities and company kick-offs as needed
• Draft external communications on behalf of VP + Sr Dir with high level external stakeholders
• Support recruiting process oh behalf of leaders including booking interviews, liaising between the hiring team and coordinate onboarding of new hires
• Compile receipts to submit timely and accurate expense reports on a monthly basis
• Provide coverage for other EBAs 
• Run and lead special projects upon request
• Must be able to work flexible hours to support international business meetings and some travel is required in most roles
• Other duties as assigned in support of the business (ad hoc tasks)
• Contribute to the broader EBA community by sharing learnings, resources, and supporting EBA team camaraderie

What you'll bring 

• Previous administrative experience supporting Engineering  leaders in a dynamic, fast paced environment
• Bachelor’s Degree preferred. High school diploma or general education degree (GED) required
• Self-starter who can operate independently and move quickly from one task to another; creative problem solver, seeks “win-win” solutions; energized by challenges with superb attention to detail
• Extensive technical skills with Google Workspace, Zoom, Slack and Navan among other tools and processes such as purchase orders 
• Demonstrated Leadership mindset in prior roles—ability to influence culture/environment around them
• Proven leadership skills and demonstrates “one team” mindset; able to partner with other EBAs and work well across GitLab
• Experience with event planning and coordination to include support for large meetings, off-sites and company events
• Detailed and goal-oriented planner; possesses the ability to appropriately prioritize business needs and handle multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment
• Approachable and effective communicator across various communication channels and with all levels of the organization
• Demonstrated ability to adopt technical tools quickly (i.e. terminal, text editor)
• Experience in a start-up environment preferred

About the Role:

We are seeking a Senior Product Manager to work with our API Infrastructure team. In this role, you will play a pivotal role in shaping the future of our API platform, driving the strategy and execution of our technical infrastructure, documentation, and partner-developer tooling that powers integrations with Gusto. You will collaborate closely with cross-functional teams, including engineering, design, and business development, to deliver high-quality APIs that enable seamless interactions and drive business growth.

About the Team:

Gusto Embedded Payroll is our newest business unit, driving the next arc of innovation and growth for Gusto. Our mission is to enable any third party SMB platform to build, sell, and serve payroll, however, they wish. Our API offering allows other companies to offer payroll services to their customers inside their app or service. By creating a more seamless payroll experience for SMBs, we will bring Gusto’s platform to hundreds of thousands more businesses than those we serve directly. Here’s what you’ll do day-to-day:

• Drive product development of critical projects from concept to launch, ensuring timely delivery of high-quality products that improve the products of our Embedded partners
• Work with developer teams at our partners to develop a deep understanding of their needs and how to enable them to bring payroll to their customers as quickly as possible
• Partner with Engineering, Design, Data Science, CX, Solution Architects, and other counterparts across Gusto to solve complex cross functional problems
• Identify emerging technologies and industry trends, especially related to developer products (APIs, SDKs, etc.) to push our product experience to the next level

Here’s what we're looking for:

• 5+ years experience in product management with a focus on API platforms, infrastructure, or developer tools
• Strong technical background, with a deep understanding of API design principles, RESTful architecture, and web services development
• Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills
• Proven track record of successfully delivering complex technical products, from concept to launch, in a fast-paced, agile environment
• Analytical mindset and proficiency in data-driven decision-making, with experience using metrics and analytics tools to drive product insights and improvements

Our cash compensation amount for this role is targeted at $126,000 to $156,000 in Denver & most major metro locations, and $163,000 to $201,000 for San Francisco, New York, & Seattle. Final offer amounts are determined by multiple factors including candidate location, experience and expertise and may vary from the amounts listed above.

WHAT YOU BRING

• At least 8 years of experience managing teams of software engineers
• Experience using Generative AI / LLMs to build products. Knowledge of common prompt engineering techniques, current state of generative models, and engineering techniques such as RAG.
• Experience with Agile development and methodologies; web and mobile application architecture and development
• Experience with design systems, shared component libraries, and working with designers
• The ability to manage a diverse and distributed team of engineers from all backgrounds
• Strong communication skills, both spoken and written — a history of blogging or essay-writing is helpful
• Technical proficiency — you can dive into technical discussions and deeply understand and influence the decision making process
• Ability to set clear expectations and goals for the team. You hold team members accountable for performance expectations and take different approaches to motivating high performers and turning around low performers
