Job Description

As Data Engineer, you will be responsible for designing and developing robust and scalable data warehousing solutions. The Data Engineer will be responsible for building data solutions based on the business requirements. Data solutions may involve retrieval, transformation, storage, and delivery of the data. The Data Engineer must follow standards and implement best practices while writing code and provide production support for the enterprise data warehouse. Our ideal candidate is a skillful data wrangler who enjoys building data solutions from the ground up and optimizing their performance.

This full-time position reports to the Manager of Data Engineering and will work remote in Mexico City. To ensure sufficient overlap with functional and cross-functional team members globally, some flexibility with this role's regular work schedule will be required. Most of our teams have overlap with early morning and/or early evening PST. Specific scheduling needs for this role will be discussed in the initial interview.

What you’ll do:

  • Be accountable for building and maintaining the data infrastructure for the organization
  • Collaborate with systems analysts and cross functional partners to understand data requirements
  • Champion data warehouse, create denormalized data foundation layer and normalized data marts
  • Define strategies to capture all data sources and impact of business process changes on data coming from those sources  
  • Work on all aspects of the data warehouse/BI environment including architecture, design, development, automation, caching and performance tuning
  • Build required infrastructure for optimal extraction, transformation and loading of data from various data sources on Cloud leveraging SQL, data cloud platforms like Snowflake
  • Identifying, designing and implementing internal process improvements including re-designing infrastructure for greater scalability, optimizing data delivery, and automating manual processes
  • Working with stakeholders including the Executive, Product, Data and Design teams to support their data infrastructure needs while assisting with data-related technical issues
  • Continually explore new technologies like Big Data, Artificial Intelligence, Generative AI, Machine Learning, and Predictive Data Modeling

What you bring to the table:

  • Must be fluent in English, both written and verbal
  • 5+ years of professional experience in the data engineering field
  • Hands-on polyglot programming expertise
  • Proficiency in Multi cloud platform like Azure, AWS and/or GCP
  • Experience in Azure Data Factory (ADF) or equivalent ETL tool
  • Extensive experience in designing, developing Snowflake Cloud Data Platform
  • Proficiency in designing and implementing data pipelines using diverse data sources including databases, APIs, external data providers, and streaming sources
  • Demonstrated history of designing efficient data models using Medallion Architecture
  • Deep understanding and experience with relational (SQL Server, Oracle, Postgres and MySQL) and NoSQL databases
  • Experience building and supporting REST APIs for both inbound and outbound data workflow
  • Proficiency and solid grasp of distributed system concepts to design scalable and fault tolerant data architectures
  • Excellent critical thinking to perform root cause analysis on external and internal processes and data to identify opportunities for improvement and answer questions
  • Excellent analytic skills associated with working on structured and unstructured datasets.
  • Ability to build processes that support data transformation, workload management, data structures, dependency and metadata
  • Ability to build and optimize data sets, ‘big data’ data pipelines and architectures
  • Ability to understand and tell the story embedded in the data at the core of our business
  • Ability to communicate with non-technical audience from a variety of business functions
  • Strong knowledge of coding standards, best practices and data governance

  • Advanced knowledge of SQL Server components and tools (Extended Events, etc.)

  • Strong understanding of monitoring: interpretation, actions to take, implementations and administration.

Compensation and Benefits

Our anticipated compensation reflects the cost of labor across several US geographic markets, and the range below indicates the low end of the lowest-compensated market to the high end of the highest-compensated market. This position is eligible for new hire and ongoing grants of restricted stock units depending on employee and company performance. What you’ll do

To help us build functional systems that improve the customer experience we are now looking for an experienced Sr. Manager of SRE. You will be responsible to help improve Reliability, Scalability and Security of our SaaS platform.  You will be responsible for overall infrastructure for our Cloud platform and Datacenter setup, deploying security updates, Reporting Uptime and other relevant SLAs and managing and evolving our incident management process.

  • Manage, lead, and uplevel the SRE team as well as the wider Engineering team.
  • Collaborate with other Engineering managers to evolve our Infrastructure to the next level of reliability and scalability.
  • Lead your teams to deliver with a high level of executive and achievement.
  • Define and manage project plans and deliverables for the SRE group. 
  • Well-versed in SRE tools, concepts and methodologies. 
  • Help the team Investigate and resolve technical issues. 
  • Work across various Engineering teams (DevOps, Platform, Product) to identify areas of improvement in our SaaS platform.
  • Set strategic goals for operational efficiency and increased productivity.

  • Experience with multiple cloud technologies required (one of: AWS or GCP)
  • Knowledge of Terraform, Ansible, Python or Golang required
  • Working knowledge of Kubernetes and Infrastructure as a Code concepts.
  • Well versed with incident management process, uptime SLA, and, error budget etc.
  • Possess technical confidence and familiarity with SRE tools, techniques, and more importantly, mindset

Nice to have skills:

  • Experience with multi-cloud architectural environments preferred.
  • Experience managing teams supporting Google Cloud Platform (GCP) rollouts preferred.

The position

You'll join the Growth team, responsible for the development and maintenance of our public-facing website. The Growth team is a subset of our engineering team, which consists of approximately 200 engineers across Frontend, Backend, SRE, and QA. We're organized into cross-functional development teams assigned to specific verticals.

Our team works with React and Next.js on the frontend. On the backend, we use Elixir and Phoenix. Postgres is our database of choice. GitLab is used as a version control tool and a CI/CD solution; we use Linear as our issue tracker. Our applications are hosted on AWS. We fully rely on our CI for deployments and deploy multiple times per day.

  • Proficiency in creating and managing applications using big data technologies such as Kafka, Spark, Hive/Iceberg, Postgres, Redis, and others.
  • Experience with AWS or other cloud based providers.

Compensation and Benefits

Our anticipated compensation reflects the cost of labor across several US geographic markets, and the range below indicates the low end of the lowest-compensated market to the high end of the highest-compensated market. This position is eligible for new hire and ongoing grants of restricted stock units depending on employee and company performance. In addition, the position is eligible for medical, dental, vision, and other benefits. Applicants should apply via our internal or external careers site.
Salary Range
$142,000$152,000 USD
