An overview of this role

Our group focuses on providing GitLab’s teams as well as customers with ways to collect product usage insights. To do this, we build data collection and analytics tools within the GitLab product in a privacy-focused manner. Insights generated from Analytics Instrumentation enable us to identify the best places to invest people and resources, what product categories mature faster, where our user experience can be improved, and how product changes impact the business. As our new Fullstack Engineer, you will help us build out our internal as well as external instrumentation libraries and help other teams with instrumenting their features. To expand the scope of GitLab, you will play a key role, along with your fellow team members, to design and develop the new Product Analytics set of features.

What you’ll do  

  • Write high-quality, efficient, and maintainable code while adhering to best practices and contributing to code reviews

  • Collaborate with more Senior Engineers on the architectural plans and technical designs ensuring scalability, performance, maintainability and measurability
  • Participate in agile development practices, including planning sessions, stand-ups, and retrospectives, to drive iterative software development and continuous improvement for the team

What you’ll bring 

  • Professional experience with VueJS or another modern JavaScript web framework (React, Angular, etc.) is a must-have.
  • Professional experience with Ruby on Rails is a must-have.
  • A solid understanding of semantic HTML, CSS, and core JavaScript concepts.
  • Experience with writing automated tests (e.g. RSpec, Jest, Karma, Jasmine, Mocha, AVA, tape)
  • Experience using Git in a professional/workplace environment
  • Experience with creating libraries or APIs is a plus
  • Experience with Typescript or any out of Go or Python
  • Experience with GCP or AWS is a plus
  • Experience in working with data warehouses, e.g. Snowflake is a plus
  • An ability to self manage and organize in an asynchronous and collaborative work environment
  • Demonstrated capacity to clearly and concisely communicate about complex technical, architectural, and/or organizational problems and propose thorough iterative solutions
  • Familiarity with various stages of software development end-to-end (Agile methodologies is a plus)
  • Proven ability to work effectively in a team including product managers, designers, and other engineers
  • A commitment to continuous learning and openness to giving and receiving feedback as a part of fostering individual and team development

The Orders team has a mission to enable sellers to reach their customers anywhere, and provide a seamless experience to the customers (e.g. buy online, pickup in store) that today might only be available from much larger merchants. We have already started rolling out to a small percentage of sellers, with a goal of expanding this to all sellers. Furthermore, we strive to build an Orders platform that empowers both teams at Square and an ecosystem of third-party developers to support our sellers in this bright future ahead.

This is a massive undertaking with huge challenges. We have a wide range of sellers with many different needs, and to meet those needs, we work with many stakeholder teams at Square in navigating dependencies and intertwined technical / product ambiguities. Orders Core team owns the Order APIs and the legacy Bills system which are at the center of all commerce at Square. We own two very critical services. We are looking for someone who is passionate about building scalable, resilient and highly available systems and can help us take Order APIs through its next evolution. 

As a tech lead on the Orders Core team, you will 

You will:

  • Play a crucial role in building solutions for our first and third-party customers that support our mission of empowering our sellers to succeed by helping them throughout their entire business lifecycle. 
  • Build and maintain highly reliable, available and resilient Orders system.
  • Lead the design/development of Orders API solutions that are used by first and third-party developers to interact with the orders platform
  • Lead by example and help foster a culture of positivity, psychological safety, and inclusivity within the team
  • Work with other engineers and PM’s across multiple teams to gather requirements, design, develop, test, launch, and maintain features
  • Mentor other engineers and contribute to the technical direction of the team
  • Provide technical expertise and guidance to other engineers (both on our team and outside of our team)
  • Help maintain and improve the processes we use to manage our work
  • Be excited to work in the middle of the Orders ecosystem and solve complex problems that require high availability and reliability

Qualifications

You have:

  • 8+ years of industry experience designing and building APIs using Java or an equivalent language

Job Description:

Take personal ownership in code, ensuring proper tests, documentation, and communication around development of software currently written with Java, Ruby, Scala, and JavaScript. Job Details

Met de Veggie Challenge app leren we deelnemers over de vele voordelen van plantaardig eten. De app ondersteunt gebruikers onder andere met tips, recepten en coaching. Deelnemers aan de challenge kunnen hun dieet bijhouden en beloningen verdienen zoals badges en uitdagende recepten. Als back-end developer voor de Veggie Challenge App speel je een cruciale rol in het creëren van een naadloze en boeiende gebruikerservaring, waarbij je de technische basis legt voor functies zoals het bijhouden van de voortgang gedurende de challenge en het verdienen van beloningen.

What you’ll need: 

  • Expert understanding of fundamental security concepts with a focus on application security in particular. 
  • Able to investigate, understand, and contextualize a wide array of vulnerabilities and be able to explain them at a technical depth appropriate to audience. 
  • The skills to reverse engineer or otherwise assess a CVE, reproduce the vulnerability, and pinpoint the affected source code. 
  • Familiarity with modern SDLC practices, cloud-based architecture, and deployment patterns including technologies such as git, CI/CD pipelines (GitHub, GitLab), Docker, Kubernetes, AWS, Azure, etc. 
  • Strong writing skills and the ability to discern what’s important as well as the ability to present those findings.

The Opportunity

About the Role:

This role is crucial for maintaining vulnerability intelligence data. We collect data from various sources in different formats and process collected data turning data into usable information.

About the Department

The Cloudflare Customer Support Team solves complicated problems and answers technical questions via phone, email, chat and social media. Whether it is a Wordpress blogger using our services for free or a global Enterprise business with petabytes of web traffic, we are always eager to assist. We are the eyes and ears of Cloudflare, acting as the real-time voice of the customer to help communicate their needs and real-world use cases back to the rest of the company - for better service and future product development.

Description

Security Operations Center Analysts provide premium-level support for Cloudflare’s security products and features. Our largest and most technically sophisticated customers will contact the SOC as a Service team for assistance and intelligence in dealing with threats or attacks on their infrastructure at OSI Layers 3, 4, and 7. This will span the range of Cloudflare security products from Magic Transit Infrastructure Protection, DDoS mitigation and Network Firewall, to using the Web Application firewall (WAF), Spectrum, Bot Management and Rate Limiting to help customers.

Security Operations Center Analysts analyze threats, make detailed and informed suggestions for mitigation and may need to implement mitigation strategies directly on behalf of the customer. The team also provides attack reporting beyond Cloudflare’s self-service reports.

Responsibilities

  • Monitor and investigate the alerts to identify attacks
  • Work with Engineering and Operations teams to mitigate attacks, suggest steps to mitigate, and apply the appropriate mitigation, when applicable
  • Work with Engineering and Product teams to improve the products and tools
  • Extensive communications with customers via chat, email, and phone 
  • Review the latest alerts to determine relevancy and urgency. Create new tracking tickets for alerts that signal an incident and require review or escalation
  • Configure / Manage security monitoring rules and contribute to tool improvements
  • Compare traffic signatures and attributes including IP addresses, cookie variations, HTTP headers, and JavaScript footprints to determine what is good traffic and what is malicious
  • Participation in a weekend and holiday rotation required with main working hours 9 to 5 Pacific time 

Key skill sets

  • Strong understanding of the OSI model, TCP, UDP, BGP, QUIC
  • Advanced understanding of iptables
  • Analysis of traffic for attack anomaly detection and creation of mitigation rules
  • Experience in handling attack mitigation and thorough knowledge of various attacks (L3/4 and L7)
  • At least 2 years of technical support experience and customer support experience is a must
  • Strong communication skills with high-value customers 
  • Command line / Bash shell
  • Sysadmin skills (Linux/Mac/Windows) & Programming skills (Python, Ruby, PHP, C, C#, Java, Perl, Git etc.)
  • Security skills and certifications preferred: CISSP, GCIA GCIH, GCFA, GCFE, etc.

Bonus Points:

  • Previous DDoS mitigation for OSI layers 3,4, & 7, filter malicious traffic using Cloudflare tools like Magic Transit, Network Firewall, WAF, IP reputation lists, packet inspection, blacklisting, whitelisting, and/or rate limiting is a plus
