We're looking for a Senior DevOps Engineer to join our multinational and dedicated team!

You’lltake on the following responsibilities:

  • Collaborate with engineering and development teams to evaluate and identify optimal cloud solutions
  • Modify and improve existing systems
  • Educate teams on the implementation of new cloud technologies and initiatives
  • Design, develop and deploy modular cloud-based systems
  • Develop and maintain cloud solutions in accordance with best practices
  • Ensure efficient functioning of data storage and processing functions in accordance with company security policies and best practices in cloud security
  • Identify, analyze, and resolve infrastructure vulnerabilities and application deployment issues
  • Regularly review existing systems and make recommendations for improvements
  • Interact with software engineering teams, provide cloud support, and make recommendations based on their needs
  • Be part of an on-call rotation, to ensure 24x7 support to the platform.

What we’re looking for:

  • Degree in computer science, software engineering, or a similar field
  • At least 5 years of experience in the field of cloud computing, with proven record of Azure as the main cloud provider
  • Familiarity with Terraform, GitOps, and Everything-as-Code
  • Experience with SysOps
  • Very knowledge in cloud security methods and system hardening.
  • Troubleshooting and analytical skills
  • Good communication and teamwork skills

Additional bonus skills:

  • Experience with CI/CD systems
  • Experience with monitoring solutions, e.g. NewRelic
  • Azure, AWS, or GCP certifications

The Simulation Environment team develops and integrates simulation tools to serve the enterprise. We develop robust, resilient and scalable cloud simulation solutions based on managed cloud services, to meet the needs of our internal customers.

What You’ll Do:

As part of the international team, you will design, implement, maintain and monitor cloud services that realize various use cases in the area of virtual driver stack simulation. You will:

  • Work in an international and cross-functional team across multiple time zones, especially with colleagues based in Europe.
  • Design and implement scalable simulation services using managed cloud services (AWS), including simulation execution, monitoring and data handling.
  • Maintain and optimize existing services while improving availability and robustness.
  • Contribute to process automation pipelines.
  • Apply software best practices, and write well-tested, expressive, maintainable and readable code.
  • Communicate clearly and directly in an international team environment with multiple stakeholders.

What You’ll Need to Succeed:

  • Degree(s) in Engineering, Computer Science, or a related technical field with relevant experience as specified below:
    • BS and 6+ years of experience OR MS and 3+ years of experience OR PhD and 1+ years of experience
  • Experience designing managed cloud services, preferably AWS.
  • Proficiency with infrastructure as code frameworks, ideally Terraform.
  • Proficiency with Linux as well as bash or other high-level scripting languages.
  • Excellent Python skills.
  • Strong background in standard software workflows: testing, CI/CD, containerization and isolation, infrastructure as code, and version control.
  • Excellent analytical and troubleshooting skills.

  • Knowledge of robotics algorithms and applications.

Here’s what you’ll do day-to-day:

  • Lead and mentor a team of security engineers, analysts, and incident responders responsible for 24x7 monitoring of Gusto systems.
  • Work across organizations to affect positive security change as an collaborator, contributor, and communicator.
  • Develop and implement cloud and corporate security strategies and initiatives aligned with organizational goals. Set goals and success metrics for the team.
  • Continuously improve security operations processes and procedures.
  • Oversee the monitoring of security systems, logs, and alerts to detect and respond to threats.
  • Evaluate and select new security tools, technologies, and vendors when necessary.
  • Manage internal security helpdesk that promptly assists employees with security questions and concerns.

Here’s what we’re looking for:

  • 5+ years in security operations and security engineering experience and 2+ years experience leading teams.
  • Experience managing teams responsible for detection and response, security operations, and incident management.
  • Experience with incident response, either in-house or through an outsourced service provider. Involved in large scale incident response processes as an incident manager or other significant contributor.
  • Ability to partner closely with cross-functional internal and external stakeholders to manage projects and incidents to create positive change for the organization.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of AWS and other cloud technologies.
  • Strong understanding of security principles, best practices, frameworks, and technologies.

Our cash compensation amount for this role is targeted at $214,000/yr to $262,000/yr in Denver & most remote locations, and $251,000/yr to $307,000/yr for San Francisco & New York. Final offer amounts are determined by multiple factors including candidate experience and expertise and may vary from the amounts listed above.


Gusto has physical office spaces in Denver, San Francisco, and New York City. Employees who are based in those locations will be expected to work from the office on designated days approximately 2-3 daysper week (or more depending on role). The same office expectations apply to all Symmetry roles, Gusto's subsidiary, whose physical office is in Scottsdale.

Note: The San Francisco office expectations encompass both the San Francisco and San Jose metro areas.

Media MonitoringResponsibilities:

  • Utilize CISION, Critical Mention, Feedly, NewsWhip and/or similar monitoring tools to track and analyze various media channels, including news websites. Keep a holistic view of external conversations and stay updated on relevant industry trends.
  • Proactively anticipate and identify breaking news stories and potential issues impacting clients. Possess the ability to discern and select the most pertinent articles and conversations that align with the organization's interests and objectives. As a Senior Security Engineer on our Detection and Response team, you will help detect and respond to threats for one of the biggest online platforms in the world that handles massive amounts of traffic at very low latency.

We are looking for a teammate with expertise in both security engineering and operations and that values the complement between the two. You will have the opportunity to build and integrate tooling and detections, as well as investigate threats and lead incidents. As part of the larger Security organization, we make risk-informed decisions and prioritize automations to help us scale. In this role, you will help design, build, and mature our detection and response program, enabling rapid detection and effective response to threats against Fastly.

What You'll Do:

  • Develop detections and other analytics to identify threats across cloud, corporate, and edge environments
  • Partner closely with Engineering, Security Architecture, Risk Management, Compliance, and other teams to prioritize detections and delivery of other security initiatives
  • Triage and investigate security threats and lead security incidents
  • Research, evaluate, implement, and maintain a variety of custom and commercial security tools, such as Endpoint Detection and Response (EDR), anti-phishing, and Security Information and Event Monitoring (SIEM)
  • Develop strategies, frameworks, designs, automations, metrics, and processes to support the maturity of the Detection and Response program
  • Develop and maintain incident response playbooks and other detection and response documentation
  • Conduct threat hunts to discover unknown malicious activity across our environment
  • Participate in our on-call rotations
  • Mentor other team members and contribute to larger Security initiatives

What We're Looking For: 

At Fastly we value a diversity of voices. The following is not a laundry list, but to be effective in this role you should possess most of the following and an interest in learning more about the rest:

  • Experience in utilizing Splunk to include investigating threats, developing metrics and dashboards, normalizing data feeds, and integrating with other tools
  • Familiarity of attacker tactics, techniques, and procedures (TTPs) and investigating advanced threats
  • Experience in evaluating, implementing, configuring, tuning, and maintaining Endpoint Detection and Response solutions
  • Experience with at least one major public cloud infrastructure, such as Amazon Web Services (AWS) or Google Cloud Platform (GCP)
  • Experience in effectively leading large and complex security incidents from detection to remediation

  • Leverage our tech stack: Primarily Node.js/React/Postgres hosted on AWS and increasingly using Kubernetes and languages such as Java and Typescript, CircleCI for Continuous Integration, and a combination of ArgoCD and an in-house tool for CD.

  • Drive critical projects, including: 

    • Scalability: We’re scaling and need engineers who are ready to take on the challenge of working on live, core systems with millions of users

    • Complex data management systems: We’re building a world-class document file management system. You’ll work through challenges like file intake, document management, large file manipulations, permissions and file revisioning.

    • Evolve our existing codebase from a monolithic Rails application into a modular system with clear, well-enforced domain boundaries and a coherent public interface

What you'll do as a Solutions Engineer

The Pre-Sales Solution Engineering organization owns the technical sales of the Cloudflare solution portfolio, ensuring maximal business value, fit-for-purpose solution design and adoption roadmap for our customers. Solution Engineering is made up of individuals from a wide range of backgrounds including but not limited to Sales Consultants, Technical Consultants, Technical Support and Program Managers. 

You are a customer facing technologist within the Cloudflare Solutions Engineering team. You have experience in working in a pre-sales or other technical customer facing role supporting large enterprise accounts or acquiring new enterprise customers, as well as excellent verbal and written communication skills suited to explain the benefits of CloudFlare products and services to existing and potential customers. In this role you will be responsible for partnering with the sales team to understand customer requirements and provide sales support, prepare and deliver technical presentations and demos explaining the benefits of Cloudflare products to existing and potential customers, and run proof of concept trials for customers.

Specifically, we are looking for you to:

  • Identify and map customer initiatives and business problems to Cloudflare solutions
  • Build relationships and technical champions within customer accounts
  • Develop and present customer presentations at every Enterprise Customer’s organization level
  • Lead demo and proof-of-concept activities for Cloudflare prospects and customers
