Job Responsibilities

Collaborate with project managers, user experience leads, QA leads and technical leads to analyze user needs and business requirements

  • Design and implement features using Android, Brightcove and other SDKs
  • Integrate with RESTful and GraphQL APIs using well known SDKs/libraries
  • Collaborate with other team members, participating in Scrum meetings, design discussions and team code reviews

Qualifications/Experience

  • 5+ years of hands-on experience developing and supporting Android applications.
  • 2+ years working with Kotlin and Android Studio.
  • Familiarity with code written in Java.
  • A solid understanding of the Google monetization ecosystem including Google Play Store.
  • Strong experience with debugging tools.
  • Intimate experience with several Android SDKs such as Androidx, Android Support, Android Databinding, ConstraintLayout, & Exoplayer.
  • Experience using non-Android libraries, e.g Retrofit, Glide, Picasso, RxKotlin or other open source libraries.
  • Experience writing multi-threaded/asynchronous code; solid understanding of threading in Android applications.
  • Familiarity with cloud development environments, including API design and integration.
  • Understanding of continuous integration process and unit testing.
  • Strong knowledge of Android UI design principles, patterns, and best practices.
  • Comfortable using git as source control.
  • Experience working in an Agile/Scrum environment.
  • Sharp analytical abilities, proven design skills, excellent communication skills.
  • Familiarity with MVVM architecture.

Your responsibilities include the orchestration and oversight of the performance of a large-scale operational function, supporting the activities and functions of hundreds of specialized customer support agents. What challenge awaits you?

As the QA Engineer in the Engineering team, you will take care of the quality of our product. Our engineering teams are collocated around some business features and sub-domains of our complex product. Therefore we want to empower the team with a dedicated QA Engineer who will entirely focus on this area and help us adopt the principle of continuous testing.

You will be responsible for managing test scenarios and test suites, executing them, and finding ways to automate them. You will influence the QA strategy for the team by defining best practices and quality gates. 

We are building teams with a product mindset, so every member needs to care about quality. We need someone who will help us accelerate this and have QA in mind and heart. You will show our software engineers the importance and beauty of quality assurance and test automation, and they will help you deal with complex technical challenges.

Your job will be to:

  1. Working within the team to deliver projects
  2. Improve QA strategy in the team

Working within the team to deliver projects

  • Cooperate with the team during the whole project life-cycle and be responsible for assuring the quality of the delivered solution.
  • Perform manual E2E testing (UI, API) of delivered features.
  • Automate test scenarios (UI, API) and build test suites for future regression testing.

Improve QA strategy in the team

  • Help the team to adopt the idea of continuous testing.
  • Ensure we track, classify, and manage defects found during development or production.
  • Bring new ideas and principles (like performance API testing, contract testing, …), evaluate their benefits and adapt them to QA strategy.
  • Ensure all team members understand what testing layers we have and how they can use them during development to assure quality.

Maintain test scenarios and test suites

  • Make sure we do have reasonable test suites for critical features.
  • Regular monitoring and debugging of existing automated tests (UI, API).
  • Evaluation of test results, reporting possible issues and proactively improving the stability and reliability of our tests. 

Cooperate with the Central QA team

  • Share best practices and ideas with the Central QA team (both directions)
  • Make sure the engineering team is following the overall QA strategy.
  • Be an active member of our QA community. 

 

Your success story will be:

  • In 30 days, you will participate in projects as a QA engineer and ensure the quality of delivered solutions with help from the Central QA team.
  • In 90 days, you will manage test scenarios and test cases of main features, and you will be able to automate some of them.
  • In 180 days, you will be able to come up with ideas on how to improve QA strategy in a team.

Professional experience

  • You have experience with Quality Assurance in software engineering, ideally from a cross-functional team (mix of software engineers and QA engineers).
  • You can automate tests (UI or API) and ideally have some knowledge of JavaScript, Python or Go.
  • Ideally, you should be familiar with API testing (manual and automated), API performance testing, and mocking servers. 
  • Familiar with Continuous Testing, Lean, Agile, DevOps, CI/CD principles and tools like Jira and GitLab.
  • Knowledge and experience with tools like Selenium, Cypress, PostMan, K6, and LambdaTest, MockServer are also welcomed.

Qualifications: 

  • 8+ years of experience in mobile application development, with a proven track record of leading successful launch for moderate to complex product use-cases. 
  • 5+ years of experience of leading and managing teams with people management function.  
  • Demonstrated experience with atleast two major product launches, showcasing your ability to lead a project from conception through to market release with significant impact. Include specifics about your role in these launches, the challenges faced, and how they were overcome. 
  • Deep understanding of mobile app architecture, design patterns (e.g., MVC, MVVM), and mobile app lifecycle. 
  • Extensive experience with mobile development languages (e.g., Swift for iOS, Kotlin for Android) and frameworks. 
  • Knowledge of mobile app security best practices, performance optimization, and cross-platform development tools (e.g., React Native, Flutter).

Preferred Experience

Compensation, Rewards & Benefits:

Our estimate of the expected hiring range for the position as posted is $130,000 - $232,000. You Will

We are looking for a Quality Assurance (QA) engineer to develop and execute exploratory and automated tests to ensure product quality. QA engineer responsibilities include understanding system requirements, designing and implementing tests and in some cases debugging and defining corrective actions. You will also review system requirements and track quality assurance metrics (e.g. defect densities and open defect counts.)

About the Role

As an SDET/Test Automation QA Engineer, you will have a passion for successfully developing robust and scalable testing frameworks to continuously improve quality, reduce cycle time, and bake efficiency into our development and testing processes. You will work closely with Product and Support teams to consistently advocate for end-users by ensuring the SonderMind platform is stable and meets the functional requirements.   • Create and maintain automated and manual test cases
  • Assist with any manual testing needs on the team
  • Participate and have input on QA direction discussions; own the QA processes on the team 
  • Accountable for testing all stories coming through the team
  • Work with other SDET’s and Manual testers to ensure cross team projects are thoroughly tested
  • Work closely with engineers  to understand the underlying architecture in the code to create more robust tests.

What does success look like?

  • Quickly integrates into the team and becomes familiar with tools, process, and culture of existing software development and testing life cycles. Tests while leveraging existing scripts and adds to and/or makes recommendations for improvement.
  • Start build and implementation of go-forward test automation framework(s).
  • Well versed in our go-forward automated testing strategy. Fully understands system architecture, business functionality and technical dependencies. The test automation framework is stable, reusable, and positively growing code coverage.

Who you are?

  • 4+ years of software test development experience with proficiency in Javascript, Typescript, or similar 
  • Experience in Unix scripting or equivalent command line tools 
  • Experience with designing and developing full stack test automation ( Protractor, Cypress, etc)  
  • Proficiency with continuous integration and continuous deployment pipelines and tools  (Gitlab CI, CircleCI, Jenkins)
  • Testing and automating RESTful API service calls via tools such as Postman, Bruno, or similar
  • Ability to lead creation and maintenance of advanced suites of automated scripts for the full stack
  • Source control, Git experience
  • Experience in communicating quality reporting and metrics of test execution results, including use in visibility dashboards
  • Strong understanding of SDLC processes specifically agile scrum methodology

Preferred Experience
