About the Role ????

As a Senior Software Engineer within the Product-led Tooling team, you will be at the intersection of communication and innovation at Pleo, contributing to a project that facilitates a seamless user experience. You’ll take the lead in designing and implementing our new backend system for "Communications as a platform," and concurrently, establish an AI tooling framework that will empower other teams to integrate AI into their operational workflows. This role is based in India, and is  fully remote ???? 

What You'll Do:

  • Participate in the architecture design and implementation of a new backend "Communications as a platform" service, optimising integration with Iterable and ensuring cohesiveness across all communication channels.
  • Shepherd the transition of existing email workflows from current systems to the newly implemented platform, ensuring efficiency and continuity.
  • Work on the AI tooling aspect, creating an enabling environment for other teams in the domain (business unit) to incorporate AI into their functions, thereby enhancing the automation and intelligence of their systems.
  • Consult and collaborate with different teams across Pleo to identify opportunities for AI applications and provide the necessary tools and guidance to embed AI seamlessly into their processes.
  • Pioneer the AI tooling infrastructure within our domain.
  • Tackle strategic challenges and create elegant solutions for commercial teams, for example, build automated engines to analyse customers and optimise their commercial journey and serving modes.
  • Utilise first-principle thinking to challenge conventional approaches and drive innovation.
  • Contribute to the execution, delivery, and quality of projects within the team.

Skills and Experience You'll Need:

  • Minimum of 5 years of professional software development experience, with substantial expertise in JVM & AI tooling.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of Java/Kotlin for the backend part of the role, and Python, commonly used in AI and machine learning environments.
  • Familiarity with API integrations, Webhooks, and RESTful APIs.
  • Proven track record of working with cross-functional teams and stakeholders.
  • Strong ability to manage multiple projects and deliver high-quality work within deadlines.
  • Excellent problem-solving abilities with efficient debugging and technical issue-resolution skills.
  • Proficiency in English and outstanding communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Skilled in developing AI tools and frameworks that aid in the automation and personalization of tasks across various teams.
  • Hands-on experience with machine learning libraries and APIs, such as scikit-learn, TensorFlow, and PyTorch, used to implement custom AI solutions.
  • An understanding of best practices in the maintenance and scaling of AI systems, with the aptitude to troubleshoot and optimize workflows continuously
  • Experience with crafting and implementing APIs that allow for the flexible consumption and integration of AI services across different domains.
  • Able to mentor and guide teams on AI adoption, ensuring they can develop AI-driven initiatives effectively.
  • Willingness to work with Node.js and React (previous experience is an asset)
  • Familiarity with database systems (e.g. PostgreSQL) and server-side development.

The DevSecOps role focuses on the pipeline tooling and infrastructure/cloud hardening side of security. We strive to shift left work on hardening our application and ensuring we build golden paths. We're looking for someone to be part of improving this specialization and bring opinionated insight.

To give you a better idea, here are some tasks you might do as a DevSecOps Engineer at Pleo.

Help our engineering teams build secure solutions by automating guardrails throughout our entire pipeline. You’ll put in place Infrastructure as Code security policies to improve auto-remediation for issues and only when required to help developers on remediation;

  • Assist the team with diving into various security subjects related to hardening our Kubernetes & AWS infrastructure at Pleo. Then design, implement and give your recommendation on actions;
  • Working with our Platform team to create automated continuous integration (CI) and continuous delivery (CD) around security checks;
  • Be a core contributor in projects related to security automation.

To make it clear, we're not building a security team to take over all security-related tasks. We're building a team of specialists that support other teams through platform building, investigations, and coaching.

There will be a lot of flexibility in this role depending on your interests and skills, but as an Engineering role you will:

  • Help operationalize, rank, and manage our pipeline security roadmap.
  • Take part in the planning and focus on the execution of projects related to our security objectives.
  • Balance controls implementation against our data classifications while providing tactful friction to meet the needs of the company.

The nitty-gritty skills

  • You are comfortable with at least one programming language (Python, TypeScript, Kotlin, Golang) and have foundations with application development.
  • Experience with fully automating CI/CD pipelines security checks end-to-end, from code commits to production;
  • Solid experience in hardening, configuring and troubleshooting Kubernetes and AWS environments;
  • Cloud Service Knowledge. You understand how to secure all the "meshy" things from sidecars, microservices to service mesh, and you are familiar with the cloud shared responsibility model. You're comfortable balancing the tradeoff considerations with regard to cost, security, and deployment complexity.

Nice to have skills

  • Java or Kotlin proficiency and experience with securing applications running on JVM.
  • Experience with PCI DSS, GDPR, or PSD2 technical requirements such as proper network segmentation and authorization mechanism.

No one wants to wait until payday to be reimbursed for something they bought for work, and finance teams have better things to do than spend hours tapping away on Excel. At Pleo, we’re on a mission to change this. We’re here to make spend management surprisingly effective and empowering – for finance teams and employees.

We’re doing away with an outdated business process to end out-of-pocket spending, encourage autonomy and give finance teams trust in employees. You'll be selling the SaaS tool (company spending solution) that comes with physical prepaid cards that are then distributed to all employees of the company. But Pleo’s about more than just paying for stuff. You’ll be helping our customers simplify and streamline their invoices, reimbursements, subscriptions – the lot.

Pleo is looking for someone to join our newly established Demo Experience Team. More on that right below, but for the right candidate, we are open to applications in India.

About the role ????

As part of our software engineering and product development department, we have established a team called Demo Experience.This team focuses on optimising processes, data, and tools for our in-house demo/sandbox accounts generation and management. This serves multiple internal & external customers (Sales, External Partnerships, Product Development and testing).

Your role in this team will be to help us architect and implement new tools to support this. Think of it as this - we need to make sure our various teams can generate & manage test, demo, and sandbox accounts as smoothly and efficiently as possible. We achieve this through designing and maintaining the tech stack, extensions, and related processes. We are very important enablers to many of our internal departments and external partners, and always aim to push our tools above and beyond.

In Pleo, the Demo Experience team has enormous potential and opportunities to make a big impact on the business bottom-line : by improving our sales demo experience and increasing our sales conversion rate, making our product development process easier, or enabling our external partners to integrate by becoming a solid API ecosystem player. Hence this is a unique opportunity to learn more about the many different aspects of running a business, the decision processes and prioritisation needed to execute strategic projects, and insights into where the company is going - almost like a front-row seat!

As a Pricing Specialist, you will work cross-functionally with Product, Sales, Finance, and billing teams to continuously optimize our Pricing. This will be a growth position as Pleo’s business continues to expand massively.

So, what will you be doing?

  • Develop and implement effective pricing strategies to optimise revenue and market competitiveness.
  • Analyse market trends, competitor pricing, and customer behaviour to inform pricing decisions.
  • Conduct external market research to develop pricing strategies to help accomplish our go-to-market and financial objectives with clear guidance to win in each of our target segments
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to understand product offerings and align pricing with business goals.
  • Conduct thorough pricing analyses, value-based pricing, segmentation analysis, and including cost modelling.
  • Build complex analytical models for scenario modelling and a better understanding of the impact of pricing moves.
  • Stay abreast of industry trends and changes in the SaaS and B2B landscape to adapt pricing strategies accordingly.
  • Provide insights and recommendations to leadership based on data-driven pricing analysis.
