We are looking for a Solutions Architect – Azure & Databricksto join us as we build cutting-edge technology solutions! We are looking for an experienced Solutions Architect to join our team and play a leadership role in guiding BPCS employees on engaging with Azure and Databricks technologies. This is not a junior or mid-level position; we seek a candidate with substantial experience (7-10 years) and a proven track record in a leadership capacity. You should be able to proficiently navigate how Azure interacts within various environments, with expertise in Databricks, Azure SQL, Azure Data Factory, and the ability to seamlessly integrate these components for efficient development workflows. The aim is to guide and implement CI/CD flows across different environments.
Responsibilities:
- Lead Architectural Engagement Specialist:
- Collaborate with existing Solutions Architects in leading architecture engagements with a focus on Azure and Databricks.
- Contribute to defining processes, standards, and guidelines for architecting data platforms, Data Estates, and modern ELT/ETL, Compute, Storage, Consumption for BI, and Data Science workloads on Azure.
- Technical Leadership and Collaboration:
- Support delivery teams as a senior technical leader, removing blockers, creating demos, proofs of concepts, and troubleshooting solutions.
- Lead collaboration with internal and external stakeholders.
- Client Engagement and Consulting:
- Coach clients in adopting technology for data, BI, data science, and analytics services on Azure.
- Quickly understand client's business needs, make impactful recommendations, and adjust accordingly.
- Aid in defining the scope of work and drafting proposals and contracts for new business.
- Architecture and Workflow Implementation:
- Define architecture roadmaps, considering pre-existing, legacy challenges on Azure and Databricks.
- Guide and implement workflows across various Azure platforms.
- Emphasize proficient navigation of Azure interactions within diverse environments.
- Technical Expertise and Demonstrations:
- Demonstrate expertise in cloud architecture and technologies, specifically on Azure.
- Demonstrate expertise in cloud architecture and technologies, specifically on Azure.
- CI/CD Implementation:
- Guide and implement CI/CD (Continuous Integration/Continuous Deployment) flows across different environments.
- Configure diverse environments and connect Azure components effectively.
- Utilize repository experience with GitHub and Azure DevOps for efficient workflow management.
- Leadership and Communication:
- Provide leadership within the existing team.
- Maintain strong communication skills, including presentations, maintaining a calm demeanor, and conflict resolution.
Qualifications:
- Experience and Technical Knowledge:
- 7-10 years or equivalent experience in designing and implementing large-scale data platforms/solutions on Microsoft Azure.
- Expert knowledge of Azure services, focusing on Modern Data Solutions, Frameworks, adapters/connectors, and orchestration components.
- Experience with Databricks and other Azure data services, utilizing languages like Python, SQL, etc.
- Demonstrated experience in designing and building cloud and hybrid solutions on Azure, including Azure Virtual Machines, Virtual Network, Storage, Monitoring, and Security.
- Azure & Databricks Service Expertise:
- Expert knowledge of various Azure services such as Azure DevOps, Azure Storage, Virtual Machines, Functions, API Management, Synapse Analytics, Identity and Access Management, and Azure Data Factory.
- In-depth knowledge of Azure services, particularly Databricks, Azure SQL, and Azure Data Factory.
- Proficiency in configuring diverse environments and connecting Azure components.
- SQL and Data Expertise:
- 7-10 years or equivalent experience in SQL, data transformations, migration, statistical analysis, and troubleshooting across multiple Database Platforms (Azure SQL Database, PostgreSQL, Databricks, SQL).
- Agile Software Development:
- Work experience in a Software development team using agile tools like Azure DevOps, Jira, Confluence, GitHub, GitHub Actions, Slack, etc.
- Data Warehousing and BI Services:
- 7-10 Years’ experience or equivalent in Enterprise data warehousing, ETL, and BI services.
- Cloud and Modern Data Management:
- 7-10 Years’ experience or equivalent in Cloud data and modern data management patterns supporting data warehousing and data lake architectures on Azure.
- Understanding and Appreciation:
- Understanding and appreciation of modern data platforms and integration services.
- Understanding and appreciation for modern approaches and platforms for data quality, data governance, and cataloging services, CDC, append-only, streaming, incremental data acquisition, and data mart/fact-dimension design techniques.
- Client Relationship and Communication Skills:
- Proven ability to build and manage executive-level client relationships.
- Strong communicator with an evidence-based mindset in developing customer experience.
- Goal and Results Orientation:
- Goal and results-focused, with a mindset of delivering customer value, emphasizing speed-to-value in all activities.
- Proactive Leadership and Adaptability:
- Proactive self-starter with the ability to thrive in flat organizations and ambiguous situations.
- Leadership Experience:
- 5+ years or equivalent experience, showcasing a proven track record in a leadership capacity.
- Ability to guide and lead teams effectively in a dynamic business environment.
- Workflow and Repository Management:
- Repository experience with GitHub and Azure DevOps.
- Experience in implementing and managing efficient CI/CD development workflows.
- Consulting and Communication Skills:
- Consulting experience to understand and address client needs effectively.
- Strong client-facing skills with the ability to manage interactions with various stakeholders.
- Communication and Conflict Resolution:
- Strong communication skills for effective presentations and client interactions.
- Ability to maintain a calm demeanor and resolve conflicts efficiently.
- Results-Focused and Proactive Approach:
- Goal and results-focused, with a mindset of delivering customer value; with a focus on speed-to-value in all activities.

Salary Range
Pay ranges vary based on multiple factors including, without limitation, skill sets, education, responsibilities, experience, and geographical market. The pay range for this position reflects geographic based ranges for Washington state: $160,700 to $200,000 USD/annually. The salary/wage and job title for this opening will be based on the selected candidate’s qualifications and experience and may be outside this range.
