ABOUT THE ROLE

As the Accounts Payable Analyst, you will serve as a key contributor to a high growth environment. Working closely with the Accounts Payable Leadership team and cross functional partners to drive efficiency, process improvements and cost saving opportunities through analytics, reporting, auditing and training. The Analyst will also assist in supporting all department functions and processes in line with standard accounting practices and internal controls. You will handle key functions such as invoice processing, journal entries and reconciliations. 

The desired candidate will look for ways to improve the overall full cycle AP processes and their efficiency. The Analyst will work with all levels of the department personnel and leadership team to drive the UAT strategy and implementation of systems, processes, and overall solutions that support our daily activities and functions. In this role, the AP Analyst will use their understanding of how end to end Accounts Payable processes intertwine in all Finance functions, to identify and solve issues focusing on continuous improvement.

  • Supports multiple cross functional AP team initiative to plan, build and deliver broad-impact solutions for the department
  • Complete analyses and identify solutions to close gaps in the department processes and procedures
  • Create detailed project plans and identify resources needed to fulfill 
  • Monitor project progress and adjust the plan as needed to ensure timely delivery, UAT, and go-live
  • Communicate complex business status updates on behalf of the AP Department to all internal stakeholders
  • Provide hands on technical assistance and training to Accounts Payable team
  • Assist and participate in various ad hoc accounts payable functions and tasks as assigned by department leadership, to include but are not limited to addressing emails, invoice processing, ad hoc report creation and analysis etc
  • Assist with quarterly/annual PBC requests and inquiries from auditors related to AP expenses and transactions.
  • Assist in developing and maintaining process documentation related to key areas of ownership.
  • Identify challenges or potential problems and develop solutions with limited assistance

  • You have a Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance (or relevant Business field)
  • You have 2+ years work experience and have managed Inventory, Non-Inventory, Vendor Onboarding and T&E reimbursements 
  • 2+ years of supervisory experience, with experience leading teams of hourly and salaried employees strongly desired.
  • You have experience working with financial reporting systems, policies and procedures
  • You embrace technology and realize its potential to drive decision making and process improvements.
  • You are familiar with supply chain operations, accounts payable,  various payment forms and the procure-to-pay process, including experience in system or process implementations associated with invoice ingestion and three-way matching and/or master data functions preferred

Compensation and Benefits

Our anticipated compensation reflects the cost of labor across several US geographic markets, and the range below indicates the low end of the lowest-compensated market to the high end of the highest-compensated market. This position is eligible for new hire and ongoing grants of restricted stock units depending on employee and company performance. $37.02$39.42 USD

Qualifications

Level of Education and Discipline

A Bachelor’s degree (BA, BS) or equivalent education, training or experience in Information Technology, Computer Science, Management of Information Systems, or related technical field. Master’s Degree preferred.

Amount of Experience

Equivalent years of education and training, plus two (2) or more years related experience. 

Type of Experience

Requires experience in two or more of the following areas: knowledge of power system industry structure and electric utility operations, preferably in a similar ISO with market design or operation background; business rules developments using JRules; software system integration, web services; common information model (CIM) and extension to market data; Oracle relational database and SQL language; software tools and programming concepts. In addition, knowledge of regulatory and economic analyses is preferred.

  • Solid experience with Java frameworks such as Spring, including Spring Boot. Experience of Junit for testing and Maven or Gradle for building is also required.
  • Excellent Oracle and PL-SQL development skills.
  • Experience of technologies including XML, JSON, SOAP, REST, HTML & CSS is desirable, as well as containerisation technologies such as Docker or Podman.

About theRole

About the Team

Our indirect tax team is an integral part of the finance team as it manages and optimizes indirect taxation for the company. Their work is fundamental for financial planning, maintaining regulatory compliance, and avoiding potential penalties due to non-compliance.  We continuously collaborate with cross functional teams and service providers and strive for improvement in our processes, seeking efficiency through technology and innovative practices.

About the Job 

  • Coordinate with external service providers to prepare US sales/use tax, Canada GST/HST & Australia GST compliance returns
  • Responsible for preparing and maintaining indirect tax (sales/use/excise/VAT) calendars 
  • Responsible for ensuring timely and accurate indirect tax compliance document requests
  • Coordinate, track, and respond to various incoming tax notices and bills 
  • Coordinate with external service providers to prepare US property tax filings and payments, business registrations and renewals, and various gross receipt/excise tax compliance returns
  • Prepare and post journal entries while maintaining reconciliations via analysis of the general ledger activity to ensure accuracy and completeness
  • Perform monthly reconciliations of indirect tax payable accounts to underlying return details, general ledgers, and systems of original entry
  • Prepare, analyze, and investigate fluxes in monthly compliance data
  • Analyze data from internal systems and compare against additional datasets to assess completeness of data
  • Lead special projects affecting the following areas within indirect tax: controversy, compliance, planning, operations, and policy
  • Communicate directly with external advisors and internal stakeholders including accounting, legal, engineering, operations, and finance on a variety of initiatives
  • Assist in process improvement projects relating to the transmission of sales and use tax data used within return preparation and filing
  • Perform tax research and document finding in technical memorandums 
  • Assist the Tax Manager and Business Development team with merger and acquisition review and integration of businesses to centralized compliance processes
  • Responsible for preparing and managing Indirect and Property tax forecasts
  • Responsible for exemption certificate maintenance process relating to vendors and customers
  • Ability to identify potential compliance issues and recommend solutions
  • Drive ongoing process improvements, focusing on automation, efficiency, and analytics in partnership with our Tax Technology team

About You

Minimum Qualifications

  • General understanding of accounting principles including but not limited to general ledgers, trial balances, ERP systems, etc. 
  • Ability to simultaneously work on projects with competing deadlines
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Excel, Oracle, Vertex, and other data analytical tools a plus
  • B.S. degree in Accounting, Tax, Finance, or related field of specialized study 
  • Interest in learning about indirect tax and the tax operations of a fast-growing company

  • Ensure the successful completion of the agreed upon project deliverables within statement of work (“SOW”) scope, time and budget with quality while consistently exceeding client expectations across all Merkle | Cardinal Path service offerings
  • Act as a strategic advisor to the project team using a keen understanding of the client’s business and marketing objectives, not only the current project
  • Conduct regular client communication, expectation setting and management, as well as providing strategic direction
  • Proactively identify potential issues and provide solutions to correct any scope/budget deviations.
  • Act on the client satisfaction survey results for the portfolio, ensuring quality improvement plans are developed and executed

Practice Development & Mentorship

  • Work with the lead responsible for the Analysis & Insights practice area to develop and grow that practice area by creating and cultivating lasting relationships with both clients and internal teams.
  • Work with the members of the A&I team, from junior to senior to help them improve their understanding of the industry, improve their client communication skills, create professional development plans, and better understand how our A&I offerings fit into the big picture for our clients.
  • Work with others to ensure collaboration across domains, to help proactively manage issues, and create overall plans for achieving annual and long-term goals.
  • Work with the internal team and clients by helping the teams apply our thought leadership in ways that will deliver on our clients’ business goals in innovative ways.
  • Ongoing practice and process development looking for ways to improve and streamline Cardinal Path’s processes to not only deliver a superior service to our clients, but also to improve our efficiency and profitability.
  • Collaborate with North American technical leads to deliver training programs related to skills required for technical implementations.
  • Have a working knowledge of how business requirements and measurement frameworks are translated to tagging solution strategies that will best serve client analytics and reporting needs.

 

Qualifications

  • 4+ years working in the field of digital analytics and digital marketing - working in a client results service organization, preferably an advertising agency or management consultancy, is preferred.
  • 4+ years on-the-job experience with web analytics tools such as Google Analytics and Adobe Analytics
  • Foundational understanding of data capture practices, understanding of data capture models for Google Analytics, and how this structure supports analytics.
  • Minimum of 3 years’ experience in advanced web analysis methodologies, such as the following: Deep clickstream analysis, Experimentation and testing, Personalization, Competitive analysis, Social analytics, Mobile apps, Surveys, and other digital measurement technologies
  • Experience in creating strategic measurement plans, technical documentation and supporting full implementation of analytics tools.
  • Experience using debuggers, completing related QA processes, and issue resolution.
  • Experience in creating and presenting analysis with insights to stakeholders/clients, utilizing advanced storytelling skills.
  • Proficiency with enterprise analytics data management and data science tools (ex. SQL, R, SPSS, BigQuery, Oracle, Tableau, PowerBI, etc.)
  • Excellent communication skills including verbal, written and data visualization with experience creating clear, concise, and professional documents.
  • Exposure to Tag Management tools (Google Tag Manager, Adobe Tag Manager) preferred
  • Certifications in Google Analytics and/or Adobe Analytics
  • Expert Excel skills (Pivot tables, conditional formatting, advanced formulas)
  • Comfortable presenting findings and providing training on analytics tool usage.
  • Bachelor’s degree, advanced degree preferred.
  • Exposure to project management skills, business process redesign principles, tools and techniques is a plus
