About the role:

The Core Experiences team is part of our Platform organization and aims to deliver cohesive, best-in-class experiences across all of our web and mobile surfaces. These surfaces support our customers across their entire operations and power their most critical tasks - whether it’s helping drivers to maintain compliance and understand their routes or helping administrators receive critical alerts about safety events that need immediate attention. Over the next few years, we’ll be rapidly adding new unique experiences and products to our portfolio, which means that our core surfaces will become even more critical and need to expand to support millions of users. We’re looking for an experienced Product Manager to help drive this new growth and tackle the new challenges that it brings.

As a member of the Product team, you’ll be responsible for the end-to-end success of new products and features that delight our customers and further Samsara’s vision. Samsara’s approach to product management is rooted in a deep understanding of the customer. In this role, you will: 

  • Work with our talented engineering and design teams to re-imagine and launch new features and frameworks across our mobile and web surfaces
  • Collaborate with product line PMs in a ‘platform PM’ capacity to support their initiatives, align priorities, and interlock dependencies
  • Leverage data to understand our customers and market positioning to ensure effective prioritization, establish a roadmap, and define long-term strategy across products and features
  • Develop a technical understanding of our product’s systems and work with engineers and stakeholders to identify meaningful improvements
  • Seek improvements to improve the practice of product management at Samsara to help drive hyper-growth at scale
  • Champion, role model, and embed Samsara’s cultural values (Focus on Customer Success, Build for the Long Term, Adopt a Growth Mindset, Be Inclusive, Win as a Team) as we scale globally and across new offices

Minimum requirements for the role:

  • Deep expertise in product management (minimum 7+ years), with a proven track record of operating & delivering as a platform team
  • A curious and strategic mindset, ability to synthesize customer insights and data into a cohesive strategy and product roadmap independently
  • Strong technical understanding, ability to grasp technical concepts and establish credibility with engineers
  • A proven track-record of delivering outstanding results with a bias for customers & the business, managing significant complexity & aggressive timelines. You also have a bias-to-action and aren’t afraid to get your hands dirty
  • Excellent communication skills. Must be comfortable presenting to customers, executives, and internal audiences, adjusting your communication style based on your audience

An ideal candidate also has:

  • Bachelors or Masters degree in a technical field; an MBA is a plus
  • Experience with UX-focused development
  • Experience in envisioning and executing on large-scale platform changes
  • An appreciation for designing products, features, and frameworks for users with varying levels of technological expertise
  • Experience with both external and internal customers as key stakeholders to manage in roadmap planning and development

Samsara’s Compensation Philosophy:Samsara’s compensation program is designed to deliver Total Direct Compensation (based on role, level, and geography) that is at or above market. We do this through our base salary + bonus/variable + restricted stock unit awards (RSUs) for eligible roles.  For eligible roles, a new hire RSU award may be awarded at the time of hire, and additional RSU refresh grants may be awarded annually. 

We pay for performance, and top performers in eligible roles may receive above-market equity refresh awards which allow employees to achieve higher market positioning.

The range of annual base salary for full-time employees for this position is below. Please note that base pay offered may vary depending on factors including your city of residence, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience.
$130,200$232,500 USD

About the department

Cloudflare’s mission is to help build a better internet and the Trust & Safety Engineering (TSENG) team lives at the core of that effort. The team empowers customers with products and services to combat abuse, enables deeper coordination with our external industry anti-abuse partners, and ensures that teams in the company can respond to the quickly changing legal landscape of the internet with scalable tools and services. About the Role

Engineers on the Trust & Safety Engineering team are responsible for the entire software development lifecycle for our products and services which include both internal and customer-facing software. Whether closing gaps in our abuse processing pipeline, extending our Trust & Safety platform or road mapping the future of Trust & Safety solutions, software engineers on the Trust & Safety Engineering team are critical to Cloudflare’s ability to help make the internet a better place. 

What you'll do

As someone who will work closely with product owners, UX designers and T&S team members directly, you should be skilled in communicating with non-technical stakeholders. You will also collaborate with the backend engineers on the team on design and functionality of APIs that power our UIs. We work iteratively and deploy often (can be several times a day). We build and maintain several internal and external facing UIs which are TypeScript / React applications. 

Responsibilities include

  • Designing, building, maintaining and scaling UIs to extend functionality of the internal Trust and Safety dashboard
  • Analyzing and communicating complex technical requirements and concepts, able to identify the highest priority areas and carve a path to deliver
  • Collaborating with product and design teams to understand goals and translate UI design into products that align with the customer need
  • Collaborating with other software engineers in the team to align on API designs and functionality
  • Working closely with Cloudflare's Trust and Safety team to help make the internet a safer place
  • Facilitate technical collaboration on frontend between Trust and Safety Engineering Team and other frontend teams in Cloudflare

Examples of desirable skills, knowledge and experience

  • More than 3 years of experience designing, building and maintaining production web applications
  • Strong knowledge of TypeScript, React, HTML and CSS
  • Experience with Cloudflare developer platform and tooling, specifically Pages and Workers ecosystem
  • Experience building high quality automated tests and leading user acceptance testing exercises
  • Track record of demonstrating empathy for the user in delivery of high quality UIs
  • Ability to work in cross-functional teams in a fast paced environment

The Opportunity 

The UserTesting Bilingual Renewals Manageris focused on retention and growth on existing accounts. This role is a maternity cover contract role (9-12 months). 

The role consists of proactive activity for the renewal and retention of customers, as well as identifying upsell opportunities to existing customers. The position is key to managing the existing customer base and requires skills in sales, setting renewal strategy and independent decision making.  The Renewal Manager role will be measured both on Net Renewal Rate and Gross Renewal Rate of existing customers through renewal activities. A successful candidate will have sound sales experience, excellent business acumen with strong interpersonal and presentation skills with a strong customer focus and commitment to customer success and ability to work collaboratively in a teaming environment.

 These are some of the tasks that you will be involved:

  • Take ownership of renewal opportunities, forecasting, negotiation and engaging internal resources with the goal of closing renewals with growth prior to contract expiration

Qualifications

About the team

The Help Platform team is a horizontal team dedicated to crafting dynamic and personalized customer self-service capabilities within our products by leveraging AI, chat, help documentation, tutorials, and demos. When a customer needs to contact Support, this team is responsible for designing a seamless end-to-end experience, from initial contact to issue resolution. Providing a seamless end-to-end Customer Support experience extends beyond our product. About the opportunity

As the Product Design Manager for the Help Platform team, you’ll lead a small team of two (2) product designers to craft high quality and intuitive platform and service experiences for the range of customers we serve. This role is for someone who wants to lean into their strategic and leadership acumen, but is obsessed with building themselves. You’ll leverage service design expertise to craft cohesive end-to-end service experiences for our customers, and will be responsible for taking a platform approach to crafting highly effective self-serve product and tooling experiences. About your role and the team:

We are a team of thirteen people at the moment. We cooperate tightly as a single unit on a multitude of tasks and challenges in order to make our application the best to serve our customers’ needs. Since not all of us enjoy tasks with a focus on styling, a subteam of stylers has been formed that takes care of our UI library of low-level components. 

We are facing a variety of tasks on our daily basis that fall mostly into three categories - designing and developing new features, maintaining existing features in the underlying codebase and sometimes prototyping new features as POCs.

What we expect of the candidate:

Must have

  • advanced TypeScript (or JavaScript with a strong will to switch to TypeScript)

How we work:

Our entire engineering team works in 6 week cycles. Each developer is assigned to one or more projects during this cycle and aims to deliver the project together with other project team members from various other teams. In addition to working on projects, we also focus on other tasks - not limited to working on our backlog, providing an L3 support to our client facing colleagues or making improvements to our product through an initiative called “Happy consultants”.
In order to keep our high quality standards, each change in code we do gets reviewed and our automated pipeline builds these changes, runs a series of tests, runs the linter, packages the outputs and deploys them onto a development environment.
We are a team of diverse skill sets - you will need to share your experience and knowledge (during code reviews and ideally also beyond) with other colleagues and help them grow just like we all will help and support you from the minute you join us.

Challenges:

Here are some of the challenges that kept us busy in the past:

  • Micro frontend research
    • Our application is split up into modules but we are experimenting with the idea of loosening up the coupling even a bit more and splitting our large application into a collection of smaller ones run under a single container application.
    • Identify the pros and cons of this approach and what problems will it solve effectively and what other problems it might bring.
    • Take into account how this switch potentially affects not the architecture alone but also the execution, deployment and DX.
  • Optimizing build performance
    • The larger an application gets, the more complex the build becomes. Our application consists of hundreds of components, directives, services, pipes and other functions.
    • Find a way to optimise the build in order to make the DX and the pipeline build performance better.
  • Optimizing change detection
    • Our application aims to deliver a swift interaction experience to its users without the feeling that something is lagging.
    • Identify components that are underperforming.
    • Analyze their bottlenecks using the profiler.
    • Optimize the runtime performance of the problematic code parts.
  • Data visualisation
    • Our real-time analyses like trends, funnels, reports, and segmentations allow users to gain insights about their data from multiple perspectives. We integrate with external data sources spanning multiple relational databases and big data storage systems.
    • Build an interface for users to query data from data sources located outside of the Engagement to build the basis for our analyses and visualizations.
    • Create complex data visualizations using the Highcharts library or similar suitable tool.
    • Be proactive in proposing solutions which will help users to better understand their data.
    • Improve test quality and extend test coverage.
  • Extend UI library
    • We have created a mature UI library with the goal in mind to unify the look, behavior, and the API of our reusable components. This library already consists of a solid foundation of components but the innovation in the Engagement goes hand in hand with the need to create new components and enhance existing ones.
    • Create new reusable components while focusing on clear API, stability, best possible UX and modern browser support.
    • Test your component well. Use unit tests to cover all thinkable and unthinkable scenarios your component may go through to make it robust.
  • Other than that…
    • We work hard to have sustainable code, but we still have some code in our codebase, especially from the early startup era, that was written in haste to keep the business running - you will need to be able to get around in complex code and help us refactor it.
    • Automated testing of our code is important to us. You will need to cover your code, help us improve existing test quality and extend overall test coverage - spanning from unit tests, through integration tests to automated e2e tests.
