Job Purpose

 

Responsible for analyzing, designing, developing, maintaining, evaluating and assuring the quality and performance of different software system components and their respective relationships, supporting and guiding others in his work team.

 

Key roles, Responsibilities and Functions:

 

● Define the quality control process for the project and its integration with the development process.

● Analyze project requirements of low, medium and high complexity.

● Determine the needs for testing functional and non-functional system requirements.

● Estimate the effort needed to implement the tests of the previously analyzed requirements.

● Analyze design proposals for new or existing systems to identify potential improvements.

● Develop the test plan based on the requirements analyzed.

● Generate high-level tests for the analyzed requirements.

● Design and implement frameworks for scheduled tests.

● Design and implement integration and system tests with the help of the team.

● Implement low-level test cases for analyzed requirements.

● Define the strategy for keeping the tests up-to-date with the changes introduced.

● Design and implement scheduled tests as planned for the project.

● Run the implemented test cases both manually and automatically.

● Verify and issue reports of results of the execution of test cases. Examples: defect reporting found, daily report of project status, report of debt to cover tests, report of analysis code, analysis report of design proposals.

● Ensure that the quality control process is followed as planned, identify variations in the quality control process, and

define corrective actions.

● Issue test reports for closing iteration.

● Issue reports from deployment to production.

● Issue project completion reports.

● Document lessons learned and follow up on them.

● Document technical and process aspects related to your day-to-day work (technical documentation, report of estimates and actual effort -timesheets-, workflow).

Qualifications

Required skills:

Advanced knowledge in:

● Object-oriented, functional, procedural and asynchronous programming paradigms.

● Software engineering processes (development cycle and quality control).

● Software quality assurance (unit, integration, system and user acceptance testing).

● Automated, performance, load, stress, API tests, among others.

● System design standards, good development practices and system testing.

● Documentation (test cases, design diagrams, README. md, API, wiki).

● Agile development methodologies including SCRUM and Kanban.

● Ruby and PHP(desirable).

 

Previous experience working with the following tools:

 

● Tools for programming test cases such as Selenium, Jmeter, TestNG, among others.

● Management of POSIX shell.

● Build Managers and dependency management such as Maven, Gradle, Grunt,

Gulp, WebPack, NPM and Yarn.

● Tools for managing continuous integration processes such as Travis, Jenkins and CircleCI.

● Relational and non-relational databases.

● Code management tools (Source Control).

● Basic knowledge of Cloud computing: AWS.

● Experience of at least 3 years working with one of the following languages: Java,

Javascript/NodeJS, Python, JSON, SQL.

 

Academic training:

 

● Technician or Bachelor in Computer Engineering, Computer Science and related or level of demonstrated equivalent knowledge.

 

Language:

 

● Technical and conversational English level B2+ according to the Common European Framework.

 

Work experience:

 

● Senior Quality Assurance Engineer: Minimum 5 years of experience in quality assurance, of which at least 4 years are in test-oriented software development.

● Intermediate Quality Assurance Engineer: Minimum 3 years of experience in quality assurance, of which at least 2 years are in test-oriented software development.

Job Description

We are seeking a Quality Assurance Engineer -Remote to join our team. In this role, you will be supporting applications, systems, and changes to existing software or launches of new software that meet business and organizational needs. The engineer must also be comfortable looking at the source code for the services being tested to understand API usage or failure points and collaborate with senior developers to understand the services being tested.

The ideal candidate should have experience supporting the implementation of scalable, microservices solutions, including familiarity or ability to gain familiarity with various industry standards and specifications related to video advertising, content standards, and classifications.

This is a remote (in the U.S.) position and will be full-time. 

The annual base salary is $80,000 –$ 100,000. Candidates will be paid within this range based on their work experience and skills. Candidates are also eligible for our full list of benefits linked here.

Responsibilities: 

  • Collaborate with Development and DevOps to build a test bed and generate test data supporting Audio/video ingest, workflows, system configurations. 
  • Provide technical expertise and recommendations in assessing new software projects and initiatives to support, enhance, and improve the efficiency of business processes. 
  • Serve as a liaison and facilitator between business units to assist in addressing and resolving issues (in collaboration with development and deployment teams and resources). 
  • Provide recommendations to help drive process improvements for quality engineering focusing on automation and regressions. 
  • Own deliverables such as, but not limited to, issues and risks logs, test strategy, test plan, scripts, automation maturity process, and communications (written and verbal) to stakeholders, including senior management and executives. 
  • Assist in user acceptance testing, documentation, and training for effective use of applications and technology. 
  • Help analyze and improve existing AWS cloud architecture, design, and delivery. 
  • Collaborate in deployment activities and conduct system integration validation. 
  • Work collaboratively with internal and external partners on current production system defects, changes, or upgrades to resolve problems and improve processes or systems. 
  • Investigate and resolve application and system functionality-related issues and aid with troubleshooting. Going the extra mile to hone into the root cause. 
  • Define, prioritize, and execute testing scope for end-to-end functional, non-functional, regression, integration, performance, regression, smoke testing. 
  • Promote the improvement of CI/CD automation and efficiency through code/scripts and process rigor. 
  • Establish open channels of communication with Engineering and Operations teams, facilitating efficient issue elevation and resolution. 
  • Manage software (SaaS) packaging and deployment. 
  • Collaborate with on & offshore coordination of all QA/QE efforts
  • Assist in Production Operations Maintenance issues and customer service support activities. 
  • Should be able to interact and interface with customers directly with minimal supervision. 
  • Serve as a champion of quality elevation for our client delivery. 

Qualifications

  • 3-6 years of quality engineering/assurance / hands-on testing. 
  • Bachelor’s degree in computer science/Engineering with software development and deployment experience. 
  • Experience with advertising and asset management platforms would be a plus. 
  • Prior Quality Engineering experience (helping manage multiple integrated deployment environments). 
  • Experience functioning through CI/CD pipelines and validating multiple deployment branches, while utilizing QA management toolsets and establishing best practices. 
  • Experience with software testing automation, including Continuous/ Integration/Continuous/Deployment/Delivery, DevOps, API/services, and database-level validation automation.

      As the QA Engineer in the Engineering team, you will take care of the quality of our product. Our engineering teams are collocated around some business features and sub-domains of our complex product.       • Expertise in JavaScript, TypeScript, or related programming languages for test automation development.

      OVERALL PURPOSE

      You will be responsible for developing test cases and implementing testing methods and tools to achieve this purpose. You will need to work closely with our Data, Engineering and Product teams to make sure that developed functionality is fit for purpose. You will also be responsible for defect monitoring and making sure all issues logged are prioritised and fixed.       • Create, update, and execute test plans and test cases for developed functionality
      • Continuously improve test coverage by implementing new manual and automated tests
      • Create and update internal QA documentation to ensure that tests are repeatable
      • Complete non-functional testing like performance, stress, and security tests
      • Review user stories to determine requirements, acceptance criteria, and test approach
      • Provide regular feedback on functionality, usability, and defects
      • Assist customers, colleagues, and partners with troubleshooting guides and procedures
      • Join the teams for Scrum ceremonies such as grooming, sprint planning, daily scrum stand-ups, retrospectives, etc.

      As a QA Engineer at Slice you will ensure that our applications are released with the highest quality possible. 

      The Role

      Reporting to the QA lead you will be responsible for designing both manual and automated tests ensuring all relevant requirements are covered. You will be responsible for raising bugs in our bug tracking system whilst helping developers in debugging issues.
