Our AI team will work across product boundaries to rapidly prototype the AI products and features that will define the future of technical interviewing for Karat, create a competitive moat for our business, and allow our customers to source, hire, and retain the right talent with increased predictivity, less bias, and previously unimaginable efficiency.

What you will do

As a Senior Data Scientist on the AI team at Karat, you will drive innovation by extracting key insights from our data, and providing actionable recommendations for innovative products that can be built into the Karat platform as we scale. Collaborating with a small team of Engineers, you will innovate on top of the Company’s internal and external data, leverage cutting-edge AI technology like LLMs, carry complex analysis, build proofs-of-concept and prototypes, create insight, and build models and products that serve a variety of key end-users in the Interviewing Cloud space.

  • Lead projects in close partnership with engineering teams to increase the signal captured during technical interviews, maximizing the product value provided to clients.
  • Work hands-on in coding, data preprocessing, feature engineering, model development, and exploratory data analysis.
  • Lead projects and mentor teammates working in the Data Science and AI realms across all teams and products.
  • Partner with business stakeholders to understand the Company’s business challenges, develop hypotheses, and propose data-driven solutions to those challenges.
  • Present complex findings and insights to non-technical audiences, influencing decision-makers across the organization.
  • Stay abreast of the latest advancements in Data Science, Machine Learning, and AI, and proactively identify opportunities to apply emerging technologies to Karat’s business needs.
  • Lead the dialogue within Karat about AI, Data Science and Machine Learning.

The experience you will bring

  • 5+ years of tech industry experience in Data Science, Machine Learning, AI, or other related roles
  • Strong expertise in programming languages such as Python, and proficiency in using relevant data science libraries and frameworks
  • Experience with cloud platforms (e.g., AWS, Azure, GCP), data engineering pipeline and tools such as dbt, airflow, and model deployment process
  • Proven track record leading Data Science, Machine Learning or AI projects that have delivered significant business impact
  • Exceptional problem-solving skills with the ability to translate business challenges into data-driven solutions
  • Deep understanding of statistical analysis, data manipulation, and data visualization techniques
  • Excellent communication skills, with the ability to communicate complex technical concepts to both technical and non-technical audiences
Individual base pay depends on various factors, in addition to primary work location, such as complexity and responsibility of role, job duties/requirements, and relevant experience and skills. This role may be eligible for additional rewards, including commissions, bonuses, and equity.
The base salary pay range across the United States for this role is:
$117,490.80$173,500 USD

  • Train stakeholders: The analyst/engineer would train other stakeholders in the company on data quality best practices, to ensure that everyone is working towards the same quality goals.
  • Promote improvements in the development process in order to ensure the integrity and availability of the data.

Some other responsibilities are:

  • Provide technical directions and mentor other engineers about data quality.
  • Perform data validity, accuracy, and integrity test across different components of the Data Platform.
  • Build automated test framework and tools to automate the Data Platform services and applications.
  • Automate regression tests and perform functional, integration, and load testing.
  • Articulate issues to developers during meetings and particularly in the daily standups.
  • Triage production-level issues by analyzing the production logs and working with the development team until the issues are resolved.
  • Proactively solve problems and suggest process improvements.
  • Provide test case coverage and defect metrics to substantiate release decisions.
  • Work with the product managers and the team leads to understand the requirements and come up with the relevant test cases and execute them.

Knowledge and skills you need to have

  • Bachelor in Computer Science or Information Systems or 3+ years’ experience with corporate data management systems in high-compliance contexts.
  • 3+ years of experience writing complex SQL on large customer data sets (complex queries).
  • High proficiency in relational or non-relational databases.
  • Knowledgeable about industry data compliance strategies and practices, such as continuous integration, regression testing, and versioning.
  • Familiarity with Big Data environments, dealing with large diverse data sets.
  • Experience with BI projects.

You will play a critical role in accelerating Cash App’s growth by focusing on developing a strategic thought partnership with our teams in Product and Sales, and leverage data to enable us to achieve our roadmap goals, make effective spend decisions across marketing channels and understand the impact of incentives on Cash App users. 

You will:

  • Build models to optimize our programmatic marketing efforts to ensure our spend has the best possible ROI
  • Design and analyze experiments to evaluate the impact of marketing campaigns we launch

ROLE AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Product analytics at Juul Labs means working with varied, messy data sets and applying analytical methods to help inform and drive business and product decisions. We are looking for output-focused problem solvers with a strong conceptual mindset and superb communication skills.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Build predictive models and algorithms to improve JUUL products
  • Use advanced statistical techniques to analyze data and drive better decision making
  • Analyze data to create a deeper understanding of Juul’s users and their behavior
  • Identify opportunities for product improvement and optimization
  • Work through open-ended questions to distill value and support product development
  • Present findings to key leadership to influence product roadmaps
  • Support developer teams with instrumentation and reliability insights

PERSONAL AND PROFESSIONAL QUALIFICATIONS:

  • 5+ years of analytics experience at a consumer/enterprise product company
  • An understanding of various components of an end-end data stack (GCP, BigQuery, Airflow, Fivetran, dbt, Tableau, Mode)
  • Experience developing predictive models and algorithms, using python & SQL to optimize business processes and improve customer experiences
  • Experience designing and implementing experiments utilizing advanced statistical techniques to measure the impact of interventions and optimize strategies
  • Experience utilizing business intelligence tools to distill results into simple, clear visualizations
  • Ability to collaborate closely with team members as well as cross-functionally to ensure alignment with business goals and client expectations
  • Ability to operate semi-autonomously on day-to-day projects, with light manager course-correction
  • Ability to communicate sophisticated data science concepts and complex findings in an understandable manner to non-technical stakeholders
  • Ability to independently manage time to deliver on timelines, including understanding switching costs

Job Summary

We are searching for a Data Engineer with strong back-end experience to join our growing Data team. You will support data structure and maintain data products related to Stay22 partners, user interactions, and transactions data. In this role, you will be responsible for processing, reviewing and organizing data. You will provide accurate, timely, and consistent data to the organization and will create data management strategies including data acquisition and cleansing, data validation activities, writing specifications for data verifications, etc.

Key Responsibilities

  • Designs and implements efficient ETL/ELT processes to ingest, transform, and load data.
  • Help define and build key datasets across all Stay22 product areas. Lead the evolution of these datasets as use cases grow
  • Analyze data flows and dependencies, and design and implement data models for optimal storage and retrieval processes
  • Optimizes data pipelines for performance, scalability, and reliability
  • Developing integrations with third party systems to source and/or distribute various datasets
  • Collaborates with cross-functional teams and multiple disciplines to understand data requirements and provide technical expertise on data-related projects
  • Implements data governance best practices to ensure data quality, integrity, and security
  • Builds and maintains documentation for data processes, data dictionaries, and data lineage
  • Applies highly developed knowledge of complex algorithms, data science methods, and statistical analysis techniques to prepare and present data visualizations to key stakeholders and leaders of relevant business units
  • Remains current with industry trends and best practices in data engineering, cloud technologies, and data analytics
  • Coaches and trains junior colleagues in techniques, processes, and responsibilities

Requirements

  • B.S. or M.S in Computer Science or equivalent experience
  • 8-10 years of experience in data engineering or related roles
  • Proven experience (8+ years) as a Data Engineer or similar role, with a focus on data modeling, SQL (6+ years), Python, and Snowflake or BigQuery.
  • Experience with workflow orchestration management engines such as Airflow, DBT, etc
  • Strong proficiency in SQL for data manipulation and querying
  • Hands-on experience with cloud-based data platforms (AWS, Google Cloud)
  • Solid understanding of data warehousing concepts, dimensional modeling, and ETL/ELT processes
  • Strong communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to work effectively in a team environment
  • Self-starter who takes ownership, gets results, and enjoys moving at a fast pace
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to translate business requirements into technical solutions

Job Description

The Financial Crimes Technology team at Cash App detects and reports illegal and suspicious activity on Cash App. We work globally with partners in Product, Counsel and Engineering to ensure we are providing a safe user experience for our customers while minimizing or eliminating bad activity on our platform.

We use Machine Learning and Generative AI as an important part of our toolkit. As Cash App scales, we monitor hundreds of billions of dollars in transactions across traditional payment and blockchain networks. Our machine learning systems monitor and surface suspicious activity (money laundering, illegal activity and terms of service violations) for agent review. Our systems block payments in real-time where appropriate. We use generative AI technologies to improve agent workflow and case review tools, by adding features that accelerate agent productivity and allow them to make more informed and accurate decisions. We are looking for a senior MLE that can integrate vertically into the ML sub-team and focus on building/enhancing tools, libraries, frameworks, developer environments etc. for ML modeling workflows.

This is an IC role reporting into the Data Science and ML Modeling Manager that has leadership responsibilities including driving strategic roadmaps and priorities to completion by collaborating with cross functional stakeholders.

You will:

  • Design, build and enhance batch and real-time inference services and tooling that support our ML use cases
  • Facilitate modelers on the team by unblocking access to the infrastructure/tools necessary for development including MLOps
  • Develop prototypes and partner with ML modelers to encourage adoption of new tools and technologies and plan for future needs of our ML teams
  • Join a new and growing team and have a significant impact on influencing team culture.

Qualifications

You have:

  • 4+ years of combined Machine Learning and Engineering industry experience (full stack ML experience)
  • A Bachelor's degree in computer science, data science, operations research, applied math, stats, physics, or related technical field
  • Familiarity with Linux/OS X command line, version control software (git), and software development principles with a machine learning software development life-cycle orientation.
  • Experience working with product, business, and engineering to prioritize, scope, design, and deploy ML models
  • Familiarity with Python computing stack, MySQL, Snowflake, Airflow, Java/Go
  • Hosted models for inference on public clouds like GCP, AWS and/or built micro-services to facilitate event based triggering, feature generation, model inference and downstream actioning.

As a Manager of Product Analytics you and your team will shape the customer experience through high quality experimental design and hypothesis testing.
