About the Team

Stitch Fix’s Warehouse Inventory Management Systems (IMS) team is looking for a mindful, empathetic, and self-aware Engineering Manager. In this role, you’ll manage the team responsible for evolving and transforming our Inventory Management Systems as SaaS across our fulfillment network. We build modern software with modern techniques like Test Driven Development, continuous delivery, DevOps, and service-oriented architecture. We focus on high-value projects that solve clearly identified problems and are developed sustainably. 

About the Role

We create tools that support the responsibility of bringing inventory into our company and moving that inventory around in our warehouses, providing the entire Stitch Fix engineering organization with stable and reliable messaging capabilities focusing on self-service platforms. On this team, you will manage a team that has experience with backend technologies such as Kafka, RabbitMQ, Redis, Sidekiq, Datadog and more. The ideal candidate will be able to learn our systems while thoughtfully organizing the team around business goals and supporting team members' career growth along the way.

Compensation and Benefits

Our anticipated compensation reflects the cost of labor across several US geographic markets, and the range below indicates the low end of the lowest-compensated market to the high end of the highest-compensated market. This position is eligible for new hire and ongoing grants of restricted stock units depending on employee and company performance. Salary Range
$218,000$232,000 USD

The work you’ll do

  • Take ownership of complex issues related to performance, reliability, and scalability, from idea inception to production, including all required technical and organizational improvements.
  • Help our engineering teams gain full control over the stability and performance of their services.
  • Support and drive the investigation and resolution of incidents and issues in production.
  • Monitor and maintain object and data storage solutions. 
  • Lead postmortems and root cause analysis to facilitate continuous improvement.
  • Design, write, and deliver software that enhances the availability, scalability, and efficiency of our products.
  • Proactively identify, plan, and execute improvement opportunities to minimize risks, address recurrent issues, automate manual processes, improve quality, and streamline our software deliveries.
  • Provide technical leadership on reliability to engineers, managers, and product managers.
  • Improve our monitoring, metrics, and KPIs, as well as define and implement missing SLOs.
  • Implement processes and automation to prevent problem recurrence.
  • Share acquired knowledge and document accordingly while implementing SRE best practices.
  • Guide a technical roadmap for reliability to enable the planning and building of reliable solutions using our infrastructure and developer productivity platform.

The Qualifications You Need

  • Experience in Software Engineering roles, typically with 5+ years of experience.
  • Master’s degree in Computer Science or equivalent experience and skill set.
  • Experience in developing and running large-scale productive services with Docker and Kubernetes.
  • Experience working with in-memory data stores (e.g., Redis), RDBMS (e.g., Postgres), AMQP (e.g., RabbitMQ), and NoSQL (e.g., ElasticSearch).
  • Experience working with various public cloud providers (AWS, Azure, or GCP) and modern cloud monitoring system observability frameworks (e.g., Datadog).
  • Solid knowledge of scripting languages (e.g., Bash, Python, Ruby...).
  • Experience with Java, Javascript, or Spring frameworks would be a plus.
  • Proven problem-solving skills and the ability to troubleshoot complex technical issues.
  • Deep commitment to maintaining high system reliability and availability.
  • Experience in supporting or mentoring other developers in running services reliably in production.
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills to work effectively with cross-functional teams.

About the Team:

The Signals Intelligence (SIGINT) team collects signals and data on a massive scale translating them into actionable intelligence that helps drive SecurityScorecard’s flagship security ratings and Attack Surface Intelligence products. This team develops scalable distributed systems to collect data at scale from the Internet, dark web, clear web, telegram/discord and other content. About the Role:

This role focuses on the design and development of systems dedicated to distributed data collection and Internet scanning. Responsibilities include overseeing the management of collected data feeds, which are integrated into SecurityScorecard's processing pipeline and scoring mechanisms to enhance the Ratings Platform. A central responsibility of this role is enhancing and expanding the capabilities of web crawling and data collection systems. This includes scaling these systems to handle higher frequencies of web scans and integrating extensive datasets from millions of companies into the Ratings Platform. Moreover, the position is focused on pioneering and refining techniques for efficiently operationalizing the gathering of comprehensive web-based and Internet-wide data and threat intelligence.  This is a remote role located in Canada or LATAM only.

Required Qualifications:

  • 2+ years experience with low-level languages (e.g. Go, C, C++)
  • 3+ years of experience with Scripting languages (e.g. Python, Ruby)
  • Experience with SQL (e.g. Postgres)
  • Knowledge of Selenium, Scrapy or other web crawling mechanisms 
  • Experience with Confluent Kafka, Apache Kafka
  • Experience withmessage queues (e.g. RabbitMQ, SQS)
  • 3+ years of experience with building distributed systems
  • Experience building Restful API's from scratch.

As a Staff Software Engineer, you will: 

  • Be a driving force in all stages of the software development life cycle, from planning and design through to implementation and maintenance
  • Translate business requirements into technical projects, breaking down this work into discrete tasks that can be executed by anyone on the team
  • Collaborate with top-tier engineers, including Staff and Principal Engineers, to make key architectural decisions and develop technical standards and best practices
  • Have an opportunity to work with cutting-edge technologies and contribute to the development of high-quality software
  • Share your knowledge and provide mentorship to other engineers, helping to foster a culture of continuous learning and growth
  • Communicate with stakeholders within and outside of the team, including other engineering teams, product, sales, and support
  • Assist in removing roadblocks and connecting the team with the information and resources they need in order to deliver projects effectively

Requirements for the role:

  • 4+ years of professional experience as part of an engineering team
  • Degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or related field; or equivalent experience
  • Proven track record of working with coding languages and technologies that will translate to being successful working in ours.
    • Examples includePython, RabbitMQ, RDBMS/SQL, cloud infrastructure (AWS), CDNs, microservice architecture, Docker, Linux
  • Experience collaborating with a diverse team of engineers, participating in architectural conversations and decision-making processes

Bonus Points:

  • Experience with web video (particularly packaging and streaming)
  • Experience building and supporting large-scale systems

A Senior Software Engineer - Datadevelops systems to manage data flow throughout Signify Health’s infrastructure. This involves all elements of data engineering, such as ingestion, transformation, and distribution of data.

What will you do?

  • Communicate with business leaders to help translate requirements into functional specification
  • Develop broad understanding of business logic and functionality of current systems
  • Analyze and manipulate data by writing and running SQL queries
  • Analyze logs to identify and prevent potential issues from occurring
  • Deliver clean and functional code in accordance with business requirements
  • Consume data from any source, such a flat files, streaming systems, or RESTful APIs    
  • Interface with Electronic Health Records
  • Engineer scalable, reliable, and performant systems to manage data
  • Collaborate closely with other Engineers, QA, Scrum master, Product Manager in your team as well as across the organization
  • Build quality systems while expanding offerings to dependent teams
  • Comfortable in multiple roles, from Design and Development to Code Deployment to and monitoring and investigating in production systems.

Requirements

  • Bachelors in Computer Science or equivalent
  • Proven ability to complete projects in a timely manner while clearly measuring progress
  • Strong software engineering fundamentals (data structures, algorithms, async programming patterns, object-oriented design, parallel programming) 
  • Strong understanding and demonstrated experience with at least one popular programming language (.NET or Java) and SQL constructs.
  • Experience writing and maintaining frontend client applications, Angular preferred
  • Strong experience with revision control (Git)
  • Experience with cloud-based systems (Azure / AWS / GCP).
  • High level understanding of big data design (data lake, data mesh, data warehouse) and data normalization patterns
  • Demonstrated experience with Queuing technologies (Kafka / SNS / RabbitMQ etc)
  • Demonstrated experience with Metrics, Logging, Monitoring and Alerting tools
  • Strong communication skills
  • Strong experience with use of RESTful APIs
  • High level understanding of HL7 V2.x / FHIR based interface messages.
  • High level understanding of system deployment tasks and technologies. (CI/CD Pipeline, K8s, Terraform)

The base salary hiring range for this position is $100,000 to $175,000. Compensation offered will be determined by factors such as location, level, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Certain roles may be eligible for incentive compensation, equity, and benefits.
