Job Description

Primary Function of Position:

The Urology Gynecology Sales Representative will have responsibility for driving accelerated growth in Urology and Gynecology in Key Strategic markets.  Primary function will be to partner will local sales leadership to assess the GYN/URO opportunity within a given MSA, select a group of critically strategic accounts, and then drive growth through training surgeons.  As with ALL sales roles the SSR will need to incorporate all of the ISI Ecosystem resources to include Digital, Genesis, MACA, etc.

Roles & Responsibilities

This position has the responsibility and authority to:

  • Accelerate the URO/GYN Growth Rates
  • Train Net New Gynecologists and Urologists to Total Practice
  • Pivot Gynecologist’s and Urologist’s to Total Practice to include SP for Urologic Procedures
  • Establish regional case observation sites & Epicenters.
  • Build a Robust QTI data set that clearly shows the clinical and economic value of da Vinci.
  • Through partnership with sales leadership, conduct strategic market development activities.
  • Serve as the market intelligence liaison for Uro/Gyn marketing and training teams.
  • Partner with Intuitive Academic Marketing and Sales to improve impact in resident and fellow education in Gyn and Uro.
  • Develop future training pipeline by properly vetting all Uro/Gyn surgeon candidates for training feasibility within targeted geography.

Job Description

Primary Function of Position:

The Specialty Sales Manager plays a critical role in driving identification and adoption of new procedures for the da Vinci surgical system.  Partnering with sales Peoplehip and staff in Clinical Sales, Capital Sales and Key Accounts,  the Manager will identify and develop Key Thought Managers to pioneer and expand use of the da Vinci system in surgical specialties in early stages of growth.  They will also partner with local sales representatives to coach, counsel and train them on selling to specialists in their assigned hospital accounts.  This role is part of a small team of strategic, senior level sales professionals across the country who are focused on identifying and expanding the adoption of new procedures that will drive the future growth of Intuitive Surgical.

Roles & Responsibilities:

Expand da Vinci Specialty Procedures Utilization

  • Develop Key Thought Managers (KOL) for General, Thoracic, Colorectal and Bariatric procedures with potential future focus in Head & Neck Surgery.
  • Establish regional case observation sites & Epicenters.
  • Through partnership with sales leadership, conduct strategic market development activities e.g. MSA RIPs and “blitz” activities
  • Implement Consolidation Pathway Methodology
  • For KOLs, execute all sales activities to help develop their proficiency as a da Vinci surgeon.  These activities include:
    • Select appropriate case observation site
    • Conduct on-site and wet lab training
    • Bringing value in first series of cases
    • Bring intra-operative & post-operative clinical value in initial surgeon case series
    • Development and leadership of advanced regional training programs
  • Serve as the market intelligence liaison for marketing and training teams
  • Conduct hospital and practice executive presentations
  • Develop future training pipeline by properly vetting all da Vinci Single-Site surgeon candidates for training feasibility within targeted geography.

Elevate Area Specialty Sales Aptitude

  • Provide feedback to enhance representatives’ ability to sell to specific specialties
  • Identify area needs, coordinate and run aptitude programs with help from AVP and CSD’s

Manage Key Initiatives

  • Leverage Specialty Sales resources to help scale launch of new procedures and/or products
  • Align with Sales leadership and marketing to manage surgeon training resources related to
  • Utilization
  • Training effectiveness
  • Procedural volume outcomes
  • Review and affect targeted specialty procedure trends; exploit anomalies and manage appropriately

The Clinical Territory Associate (CTA) will work closely with the Clinical Sales Manager to gain knowledge in all aspects of our business to include technical, clinical, and sales.  He or She will train to be a da Vinci® Surgery technical and sales expert across all primary surgical specialties to develop surgical robotics programs in the assigned territory.  During the first year of the job, the CTA will focus on the technical and clinical aspect of the job, and during the second year of the job, the CTA will progress and begin to focus on the sales aspect of the job.  The CTA will have the opportunity to support a specific region by maximizing the utilization of installed da Vinci®

Surgical Systems by leading product demonstrations/in-services and sales activities.                                                     

This position is a developmental role and the time commitment includes some weekend work to accommodate surgeon schedules.  

  • Case Support -Be a resource to the surgical team by providing guidance, insight, and training on the use of the da Vinci® Surgical System
  • Product Demonstrations/In-Services- Lead all technical in-services for customers to include OR staff, surgeons, etc.
  • Selling Activities- Contribute to Clinical Sales Manager team quarterly sales goals by helping influence behavior change in customers such as product demonstrations/in-services, OR selling activities, and customer support trainings
  • Customer Support- Support and or coordinate, under the direction of the local sales management team, regional sales and marketing development events that create system awareness and procedure adoption through product demonstrations/in-services and selling activities
  • Administrative Duties- Responsibly manage administrative tasks: reporting of sales/procedures, outcomes of sales activities, submission of expense reports, and assigned ISU on-line modules using company required software systems
