Job Description

Reporting to the Commercial Manager, the primary role of the Senior Quantity Surveyor is to provide contractual and commercial support to the various projects being undertaken by Boskalis Westminster and other UK-based associated companies. 

Your responsibilities as Senior Quantity Surveyor: 

• Advise and assist Project Management and site teams on contractual requirements and issues
• Manage and assist with contract communications
• Attend both internal and external Progress and Commercial meetings
• Responsible for collecting records, preparing valuations, monthly payment applications and invoices for the Company’s projects.
• Value contract variations / and Compensation Events (CEs)
• Assist Cost Controllers with monthly financial reporting
• Assisting the Contract Manager with claims and/or liaison with external legal advisers
• Sub-Contract enquiries and evaluation and initial drafting of Sub-Contracts
• Sub-contract management (administration, variations/CE’s, measurement and payment certification, etc.)
• Support the Contract Manager and estimating team with tender assessments and advice
• Overview of and assistance with UK insurance and liaison with Head Office Insurance Department.

You can make your mark as a Senior Quantity Surveyor if you have the following: 

• Proven experience as a Quantity Surveyor with 5 to 10 years experience
• Degree in Quantity Surveying and/or RICS qualified preferred but not essential
• Background in civil engineering. Marine civil engineering is preferred but not essential
• Sound knowledge of civil engineering contracts, in particular, the NEC suite of contracts
• Good communication and written skills
• Ability to integrate into a diverse, often multi-national team and make your input count
• Self-motivated and able to work on their initiative.

• Monitoring and managing progress, cash flows, claims, and variation orders.
• Ensuring high-quality and timely tax reporting and handling local tax-related obligations (filings).
• Providing support during the annual financial audits.

As part of your onboarding you will lead one or more improvement initiatives within Offshore Energy Finance, directly delivering a lasting impact on the way we work. What you bring as a Project Controller:

• A bachelor degree in Business Economics, Business Administration, or a similar field;.
• A minimum of 3 years of experience as a Project Controller or similar business orientated finance role in a complex environment and preferably in the maritime, offshore, construction, manufacturing, infrastructure industry.
• Strong communication skills in English;.
• Are a team player focus on building relationships with both financial and operational colleagues;
• Flexibility, strong analytical skills, goal-oriented, and ability to handle stress.
• Flexibility with regards to potential overseas periods of working during your career at Boskalis (e.g. on a rotational basis at a project site).

Job Description

Bij ons werk je wereldwijd mee op aansprekende projecten. Nu zijn we hard aan het werk in de baai van Manilla om een nieuw en modern commercieel vastgoed en woningbouw omgeving te ontwikkelen. Het project omvat de aanleg van drie kunstmatige eilanden met een totaal oppervlak van circa 360 hectare. Hier zetten we voor de landaanwinningsactiviteiten meerdere sleephopperzuigers in. En om het inklinken van de grond te bevorderen, wordt er 60.000 kilometer verticale drainage aangebracht. Daarnaast wordt door middel van dynamische en vibrocompactie de grond in het gehele landaanwinningsgebied verdicht. De eilanden zullen worden voorzien van een stenen oeverbescherming in combinatie met een betonnen golfbreker.

In deze rol als electronic technician is het erg belangrijk dat de schepen die gebruik maken van dynamische positioneringssystemen, hydrografische, landmeetkundige, instrumentatie en hieraan gerelateerde ICT apparatuur aan boord de goede en betrouwbare informatie kunnen blijven doorgeven, immers staat en valt alles met details. Dat houdt onder andere in dat je de ene keer op afstand met smartglasses de juiste instructies doorgeeft aan de technici aan boord, en als het ze echt niet lukt vlieg je het schip achterna om de storingen te verhelpen en op te lossen. Daarom is enige zelfredzaamheid wel zo handig.

Je zal echt een uitdaging krijgen op inhoud van de apparatuur die we zelf ontwikkeld hebben en ook qua flexibiliteit zal het nodige gevraagd worden. Als dat nog niet genoeg is, houd je ervan om de handen uit de mouwen te steken, want achterover leunen is niet iets wat bij je past.

Wat je gaat doen als electronic technician 

• Plannen, voorbereiden en uitvoeren van reparatie- en onderhoudsactiviteiten op elektrische en instrumentatiesystemen, hydrografische en nautische instrumenten.
• Stellen van een diagnose, en opvolgen van de werkzaamheden.
• Ervoor zorgen dat alle elektrische instrumentatiesystemen, hydrografische en nautische instrumenten op de toegewezen apparatuur operationeel zijn en bijdragen aan een optimaal (productie)proces.
• Zorgen voor een correcte administratie van werkzaamheden die zijn uitgevoerd in relevante systemen en logboeken.
• Ervoor zorgen dat de voorraad reserveonderdelen op het overeengekomen niveau is.
• Bijdragen aan de ontwikkeling van onderhouds- en reparatiebeleid en -procedures voor alle elektronische en E&I-systemen aan boord.
• Synchroniseren van alle bedienings- en besturingssystemen aan boord (vermogenselektronica en PLC-technologie).
• Toezien op de naleving van internationale normen.

Jij kunt het verschil maken als het volgende meeneemt

• Een afgeronde opleiding mechatronica op MBO 4 niveau of gelijkwaardig
• Ervaring in een technische/maritieme/elektronica/mechatronica omgeving.
• Basiskennis van de operationele processen van de aangewezen apparatuur.
• Goede beheersing van het Engels (in woord en geschrift).
• Gemiddelde vaardigheden in ICT Office applicaties en fleet management systemen.
• Basiskennis van operationele processen, d.w.z. kennis van elektronische schakelingen, gegevensprotocollen die worden gebruikt voor gegevensoverdracht.
• Bekendheid met hydrografische, landmeetkundige, positionering apparatuur en instrumentatie is een pre.
• Werkervaring of soortgelijke ervaring als service engineer met scheeps/elektronica & instrumentatie is een pre.

• Je werkt voornamelijk aan kunstwerken in de infra zoals bruggen, tunnels, viaducten en aquaducten, met regelmatig een uitstapje naar waterbouwkundige constructies zoals kademuren, steigers, sluizen en stuwen.
• Tijdens de tenderfase en gedurende projecten in uitvoering, adviseer en begeleid je constructeurs bij het oplossen van complexe en technisch inhoudelijke vraagstukken.
• Je deelt je kennis en haalt kennis op bij je collega (hoofd) constructeurs.
• Samen met je collega’s ben je dé interne vraagbaak op het gebied van civiele constructies
• Vanzelfsprekend staat constructieve veiligheid te allen tijde bovenaan jouw agenda en weet je feilloos wat er mogelijk is binnen de grenzen hiervan. Je maakt je collega’s hiervan bewust weet ze op een motiverende manier hier in mee te nemen.

Wat je meebrengt

• Een hbo- of wo-opleiding Civiele Techniek afgerond en aangevuld met relevante opleidingen. Het is een sterke pre als geregistreerd staat als registerconstructeur of registerontwerper.
• Circa vijftien jaar (of meer) werkervaring als civiel constructeur bij een (middel)grote aannemer of ingenieursbureau.
• Kennis van de relevante en actuele normen en richtlijnen en weet de context achter deze regelgeving op waarde te schatten om in uitzonderlijke gevallen gemotiveerd hiervan af te wijken.  
• Flexibiliteit om op verschillende (project)locaties in Nederland te werken.
• Kennis van SCIA of vergelijkbare rekensoftware.

• Jouw team: De vakgroep constructie is onderdeel van de ontwerpafdeling van Boskalis Nederland. In de vakgroep werken ca. 15 bevlogen mensen die niet alleen de projecten, maar ook de verbinding met elkaar belangrijk vinden. Naast deze vakgroep bestaat de ontwerpafdeling uit de volgende afdelingen: vakgroep ontwerpleiders, cluster geografisch ontwerp en vakgroep technische installatie. Bij de ontwerpafdeling werken ca. 50 medewerkers.
• Waar kom je te werken: We werken hybride. In overleg met je manager en je team werk je deels thuis en deels op kantoor.
• Fulltime/ parttime: De functie is fulltime (40 uur per week).

Job Description

Reporting to the Commercial Manager, the primary role of the Quantity Surveyor is to provide contractual and commercial support to the various projects being undertaken by Boskalis Westminster and other UK-based associated companies. 

Your responsibilities as Quantity Surveyor: 

• Advise and assist Project Management and site teams on contractual requirements and issues
• Manage and assist with contract communications
• Attend both internal and external Progress and Commercial meetings
• Responsible for collecting records, preparing valuations, monthly payment applications and invoices for the Company’s projects.
• Value contract variations / and Compensation Events (CEs)
• Assist Cost Controllers with monthly financial reporting
• Assisting the Contract Manager with claims and/or liaison with external legal advisers
• Sub-Contract enquiries and evaluation and initial drafting of Sub-Contracts
• Sub-contract management (administration, variations/CE’s, measurement and payment certification, etc.)
• Support the Contract Manager and estimating team with tender assessments and advice
• Overview of and assistance with UK insurance and liaison with Head Office Insurance Department.

You can make your mark as a Quantity Surveyor if you have the following: 

• Proven experience as a Quantity Surveyor with 5 to 10 years experience
• Degree in Quantity Surveying and/or RICS qualified preferred but not essential
• Background in civil engineering. Marine civil engineering is preferred but not essential
• Sound knowledge of civil engineering contracts, in particular, the NEC suite of contracts
• Good communication and written skills
• Ability to integrate into a diverse, often multi-national team and make your input count
• Self-motivated and able to work on their initiative.

• Your team: You will work as a Quantity Surveyor in the Dredging business unit, with involvement in projects including capital and maintenance dredging projects; port developments; land reclamation; coastal protection schemes, beach renourishment and occasional work in Joint Ventures.
• Where you will work: You will be working at the Westminster House in Fareham or some travel within the UK and Ireland with occasional requirements to work away from home on project sites. Hybrid work available. 
• Full/part-time job: The position of Quantity Surveyor is a full-time job - 37.5 hours a week.
