About the role:

Samsara is looking for an experienced engineering director to lead our Platform team in Poland. Our Platform org is responsible for the core enterprise capabilities that powers Samsara’s Connected Operations platform as well as providing shared capabilities that accelerate our internal product engineering teams. This includes areas such as Reporting, Alerting, Org/User management, Release management, Monetization, Mobile, Web capabilities to support our rapidly growing footprint of customers. This organization is building the foundation to stay ahead of the needs of our expanding customer base and platform.

In this role, you will: 

  • Drive the vision, roadmap and priorities for Samsara’s Platform teams.
  • Ensure high technical standards through both processes and the culture you instill.
  • Mentor and grow engineering managers and staff/senior engineers.
  • Champion, role model, and embed Samsara’s cultural principles (Focus on Customer Success, Build for the Long Term, Adopt a Growth Mindset, Be Inclusive, Win as a Team) as we scale globally and across new offices
  • Hire, develop and lead an inclusive, engaged, and high performing team

Minimum requirements for the role:

  • 10+ years of industry experience in software engineering/development
  • 7+ years of engineering management experience
  • A track record of building high performing software teams 
  • Willingness to dive-deep and solve challenging technical problems

An ideal candidate also has:

  • Experience managing managers and teams of 40+ engineers
  • A customer-focused mindset and good product sense
  • 5+ years of experience in SaaS software development roles
  • BS in Computer Science or Engineering
  • Experience with best practices around testing, monitoring, and SLAs to ensure high product quality in large-scale distributed web services

This is a fully remote position. 

Primary duties

Leadership and Direction: Develop and execute a clear strategic vision for the product engineering department, aligning team efforts with the company’s product goals and customer needs. This includes overseeing the creation and implementation of a technical roadmap, ensuring projects are prioritized based on impact and alignment with business objectives.

Team Management and Development: Directly manage a team of 3-5 engineering managers, fostering an environment of high autonomy and ownership. Focus on recruiting, mentoring, and retaining top-tier engineering talent, creating growth opportunities that align with individual career aspirations and the company’s objectives.

Cross-Functional Collaboration: Lead cross-functional projects that require coordination between engineering, product, design, and other departments. Ensure seamless communication and collaboration, driving projects to successful completion with a focus on delivering customer value.

Process and System Optimization: Design and implement efficient systems and processes to manage consistent product delivery and high performance across the engineering team. Use these systems not for perfection but as tools to achieve great outcomes, focusing on adaptability and continuous improvement.

Imperva, a Thales company, is seeking a Sr. Director of Engineering to lead product development for our Data Security product as well as the site in Vancouver, Canada.    
    
The team  is responsible for a global-scale, mission-critical, customer-facing solution that powers Imperva’s leading suite of Data Security products and services and consists of 70+ engineers and growing.    
    
You will be the driving force behind our cutting-edge products. You will serve as a key member of the Product Development management team and collaborate with other engineering leaders on strategic issues and initiatives. You will work in a fast-paced and challenging environment.    
   
This is a hybrid position in Vancouver, BC Canada   
   
Key Areas of Responsibility    
  • Lead the product development teams in Vancouver consisting of highly professional engineers and provide high-level guidance and support to promote an innovative and challenging work environment that can execute both independently and collaboratively to deliver results.
  • Work to scope and plan key deliverables with business stakeholders and development teams to ensure successful deliver
  • Optimize the organizational structure for fast and reliable deliveries and to create a collaborative culture and environment between the Vancouver office and the other global offices of Imperva, mainly the one based in Tel Aviv.
  • Own the technical output of the Sonar team. Ensure high technical standards by implementing processes (technical design, code reviews, testing, and rollout) and strengthening department culture (hacker mentality, agility, and engineering excellence). Review and drive long term technical direction.
  • Collaborate closely with Sales, Product Management, Marketing and Customer Success in an agile environment.

 

Requirements:    
  • B.Sc or M.Sc in Computer Science or equivalent
  • 10+ years of experience in software development
  • Deep domain knowledge and hands-on capabilities in at least one of the following areas: cloud environments, web applications, databases, networking, application/network/data, ML/AI, security, SaaS
  • Experience in the development of cloud-native solutions and good understanding of the different public cloud services
  • Excellent leadership, collaborative management practices, communication and interpersonal skills; strong attention to detail and organizational skills
  • Foster team culture and practice of mentorship and collaboration
  • Collaborates with team to help determine and implement the values, vision and strategic goals (long and short term) of the company and executes change initiatives

 

The anticipated annual base salary range for this position is CAD$232,000 – $290,000. The salary offered will be determined based on the candidate’s experience, knowledge, skills, other qualifications, and location.
