Our Site Reliability Engineering team leverages software engineering and infrastructure operations to create highly reliable and scalable software systems. The team is responsible for ensuring that Abarca’s infrastructure operates efficiently by assisting with the design, build, and maintenance of software systems that automate and optimize the deployment, monitoring, and performance of Abarca’s systems. By focusing on improving the reliability and availability of software systems through engineering best practices and tools, we manage complex distributed systems to meet our external Service Level Agreements and internal Operating Level Agreements.

As our Site Reliability Engineer, you will be responsible for collaborating on the design, build, and maintenance of reliable and scalable infrastructure and software systems. This will be accomplished by tracking error budgets against service level agreements in order to meet and maintain compliance. You will also be collaborating with our Infrastructure, Software Engineering and Security teams to identify and implement reliability and performance improvements across our systems.

The fundamentals for the job…

  • Manage error budgets while ensuring that service level agreements are being met while keeping our stakeholders satisfied and reducing penalties associated with performance issues.
  • Monitor systems for potential performance and reliability issues, proactively taking measures to prevent their occurrence and minimize service disruption.
  • Promptly troubleshoot and resolve production issues while also identifying opportunities for improvement in terms of reliability, to ensure timely resolution and mitigate future occurrences.
  • Collaborate with Software Development, among other teams, continuously improving systems and processes to increase efficiency, minimize downtime, and optimize overall system reliability.
  • Develop and maintain automation tools to improve system observability, reliability, and performance.
  • Design and implement disaster recovery plans to ensure business continuity.

What we expect of you

The bold requirements…

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s Degree in Information Technology, Computer Science or a related field. (In lieu of a degree equivalent experience may be considered).
  • 3+ years of experience as a site reliability engineer or within related areas.
  • Experience managing error budgets as well as service level agreements.
  • Experience programming with, but not limited to: .Net, C#, JavaScript, PyScript, T-SQL/SQL.
  • Experience with containerization technologies (e.g. Docker and Kubernetes).
  • Experience with cloud infrastructure platforms (e.g. AWS, Azure, or GCP).
  • Experience with monitoring and alerting tools (e.g. DataDog, AppDynamics, Dynatrace, Prometheus, SolarWinds, Grafana, or Nagios)
  • Participate in on-call rotation to provide 24/7 support for critical systems. Availability to work rotating or irregular shifts, including weekends and certain holidays, per business or operational needs.
  • Some travel required to Puerto Rico location 15-20%.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.

Nice to haves…

  • Experience with automation tools (e.g. Ansible, PowerShell scripting).
  • Certified SRE Foundation (SREF).

Your Role in a nutshell

In this Salesforce Technical Lead role, you will be hands-on involved in the day to day activities, as well as handling and driving the stories and leading the team's activities accordingly to implement and drive the success of Salesforce here at Vectra.

About the role:

 

Cloudflare provides advisory and hands-on-keyboard implementation and migration services for enterprise customers. As an Implementation Manager for Application Security and Performance, you are an individual contributor working in the post-sales landscape, responsible for the technical execution of solutions and guidance to our customers to get the most value possible from their Cloudflare investment. You are an expert in Layer 7 products like: DDoS Protection, WAF, API Gateway, Bot Management, Certificates Manager, Rate Limiting, SSL and Page Shield.

 

This position has working hours Monday to Friday 09:00 a.m. to 06:00 p.m. Occasionally, we support our customers during the weekends for specific changes that need to be done outside of their business hours. Travel is expected at 30%.

 

What you will do:

 

  • Plan and deliver timely and organized services for customers, ensure customers see the full value in Cloudflare’s products and advice on product best practices.
  • Gather business and technical requirements, use cases and any other information required to build, migrate and deliver a solution on behalf of the customer and transition the Cloudflare working environment to the customer. About the Department

The Cloudflare Customer Support Team solves complicated problems and answers technical questions via phone, email, chat and social media. Whether it is a Wordpress blogger using our services for free or a global Enterprise business with petabytes of web traffic, we are always eager to assist. We are the eyes and ears of Cloudflare, acting as the real-time voice of the customer to help communicate their needs and real-world use cases back to the rest of the company - for better service and future product development.

Description

Security Operations CenterEngineers provide premium-level support for Cloudflare’s security products and features. Our largest and most technically sophisticated customers will contact Support for assistance and intelligence in dealing with threats or attacks on their infrastructure at OSI Layers 3, 4, and 7. This will span the range of Cloudflare security products from Magic Transit Infrastructure Protection, DDoS mitigation and Network Firewall, to using the Web Application firewall (WAF), Spectrum, Bot Management and Rate Limiting to help customers.

Security Operations CenterEngineers analyze threats, make detailed and informed suggestions for mitigation and may need to implement mitigation strategies directly on behalf of the customer. The team also provides attack reporting beyond Cloudflare’s self-service reports.

Responsibilities

  • Monitor and investigate the alerts to identify attacks
  • Work with Engineering and Operations teams to mitigate attacks, suggest steps to mitigate, and apply the appropriate mitigation, when applicable
  • Work with Engineering and Product teams to improve the products and tools
  • Communicate with customers via chat, email, and phone 
  • Review the latest alerts to determine relevancy and urgency. Create new tracking tickets for alerts that signal an incident and require review or escalation
  • Configure / Manager security monitoring rules and contribute to tool improvements
  • Compare traffic signatures and attributes including IP addresses, cookie variations, HTTP headers, and JavaScript footprints to determine what is good traffic and what is malicious
  • Previous DDoS mitigation for OSI layers 3,4, & 7 is a must: filter malicious traffic using Cloudflare tools like Magic Transit, Network Firewall, WAF, IP reputation lists, packet inspection, blacklisting, whitelisting, and/or rate limiting

Key skill sets

  • Modern internet protocols like UDP, TCP, etc.
  • Advanced understanding of iptables
  • Analysis of traffic for attack anomaly detection and creation of mitigation rules
  • Experience in handling attack mitigation and thorough knowledge of various attacks (L3/4 and L7)
  • Previous knowledge of Cloudflare Security Products & Features
  • 4 years of technical support experience and customer support experience is a must
  • Strong communication skills with high-value customers under attack
  • Command line / Bash shell
  • Sysadmin skills (Linux/Mac/Windows) & Programming skills (Python, Ruby, PHP, C, C#, Java, Perl, Git etc.)
  • Security skills and certifications preferred: CISSP, GCIA GCIH, GCFA, GCFE, etc.
  • Calm under pressure
  • Previous project management skills helpful.

 

Compensation

Compensation may be adjusted depending on work location.

  • For Colorado-basedhires: Estimated annual salary of $105,000 - $129,000
  • For New York City, Washington, and California (excluding Bay Area) based hires: Estimated annual salary of $118,000 - $144,000.
  • For Bay Area-based hires: Estimated annual salary of $126,000 - $154,000.
