You will be working on:

  • Developing front and back end software for our AI Platform 
  • Building data pipelines, core infrastructure, internal web apps and AI application prototypes

  • Understand key Business and Engineering metrics around performance, quality and availability and work regularly with the team to push the boundaries and improve them periodically
  • Proactively participate in code reviews and architecture and design discussions
  • Help the organization in building a top quality team by participating in hiring initiatives and evangelizing about contributions, accomplishments and victories

We are looking for:

  • 2+ years of experience with Python Web Development including frameworks like Django, FastAPI, Flask etc.
  • Experience building scalable and distributed backend systems
  • Experience in developing APIs and front-end applications for internal use
  • Experience with DevOps and MLOps
  • Expertise in all common Cloud technologies, preferably AWS. Knowledge of CI/CD tools and workflows
  • Experience with fundamental data engineering activities such as pipeline development and data infrastructure development
  • Good stakeholder management, ability to build trust and rapport with internal and external stakeholders

Nice to have:

  • Experience in at least one Frontend framework, preferably React.js
  • Experience working with LLMs and prompt engineering
  • Experience with dashboarding technologies such as Streamlit, Metabase etc.
  • It is good to have Knowledge of Kubernetes and Docker and related deployment technologies
  • Web application security best practices and knowledge of common application security vulnerabilities XSS, SQL injection, etc.

As a Staff Fullstack/Frontend Software Engineer on the Franchise Suite Organization Management team, you will: 

  • Collaborate effectively with product managers, designers, QA, and other engineers in and outside FS to deliver new user-facing features while working across numerous time zones (PST, EST, Eastern European, and Greenwich Mean)

  • Actively participate in reviewing eng docs for features in FS (that may not always be directly within Org Management team) and advocate for the right technical architectural tradeoffs

  • Stay up-to-date with FE technologies and best practices and lead FS-wide frontend syncs

  • Advocate for process changes within the team/org if/when they make sense in a critical, but thoughtful and empathetic way

As a full-stack software engineer on the Credit Underwriting Team, you will help us grow and expand access to credit for our Square sellers. Our customers are internal teams iterating on existing loan products as well as experimenting with brand new loan structures. Our backend is the powerhouse behind all of loan origination, and our frontend enables product teams to customize, test, and manage the credit policies behind these loans. You will work primarily on our backend systems with regular contributions to our frontend as well.

Qualifications

You will:

  • Work closely with product, data science, and other engineering teams to enable innovative new lending products. This includes building new fullstack self-serve platform features, working with new data sources and data pipeline technologies, and more.

  • Collaborate with other engineering teams on exciting new lending initiatives and products

  • Modernize our entire underwriting process to be cloud-first and scale to meet Square's growth needs for years into the future

  • Build systems that collect and maintain customers confidential data, while holding Square to the highest standards for security and compliance

You have:

  • 4+ years of full-stack software engineering experience

An overview of this role

In this role, you will:

Samsara’s Compensation Philosophy:Samsara’s compensation program is designed to deliver Total Direct Compensation (based on role, level, and geography) that is at or above market. We do this through our base salary + bonus/variable + restricted stock unit awards (RSUs) for eligible roles.  For eligible roles, a new hire RSU award may be awarded at the time of hire, and additional RSU refresh grants may be awarded annually. 

We pay for performance, and top performers in eligible roles may receive above-market equity refresh awards which allow employees to achieve higher market positioning.

In this role, you will:

About the team

Today, data scientists piece together data, tooling, and frameworks to get bespoke data science workloads running and producing business value. Data scientists then hand off models to engineering teams to attempt to deploy them to production. These teams speak different languages, use different tools, and have completely different workflows. This makes it very difficult to deploy data science workloads to production, increasing time to value and costs. One of our primary goals for our ModelOps stage is to reduce the complexities of data science workloads and integrate these workloads to easily be managed and developed within GitLab.

  • Deep technical understanding and usability  of ML/AI technologies (e.g GPUs, model inference, training, natural language processing, large language models, embeddings, vector database, etc)
  • Production experience with Terraform, Kubernetes, Docker, and preferably GCP or equivalent technologies.
  • Experience with inference backend and post-production monitoring of large language models ( >10GB)
  • High interest in defining experimentation and agent architecture for large-scale ML recommendation engines 
  • A genuine passion for learning as you will be solving the challenges of today, tomorrow, and many years to come.

About the team

Today, data scientists piece together data, tooling, and frameworks to get bespoke data science workloads running and producing business value. Data scientists then hand off models to engineering teams to attempt to deploy them to production. These teams speak different languages, use different tools, and have completely different workflows. This makes it very difficult to deploy data science workloads to production, increasing time to value and costs. One of our primary goals for our ModelOps stage is to reduce the complexities of data science workloads and integrate these workloads to easily be managed and developed within GitLab.
