Collaborate with the other engineering team members to ensure smooth CI/CD pipelines, infrastructure management, and monitoring and alerting systems.

 

You could be an ideal match if you possess:

4+ years of professional experience in software development, focusing on web applications and backend services using JavaScript, TypeScript, and Node.js. You will need to have strong proficiency in JavaScript, TypeScript, and Node.js with a deep understanding of core concepts, asynchronous programming, and performance optimisation techniques.

2+ years of experience working with front-end frameworks, preferably Vue.js - and a solid understanding of HTML5, CSS3, and related web technologies - in building user-friendly and responsive web applications.

Familiarity with Agile development methodologies, such as Scrum or Kanban, and experience working in an Agile environment.

Some experience with NestJS, a progressive Node.js framework, and familiarity with its underlying principles, such as dependency injection and modularity, is a plus.

Knowledge of Domain-Driven Design (DDD) concepts and experience implementing DDD principles in software projects is valuable.

Familiarity with AWS services such as EC2, S3, Lambda, API Gateway, RDS, and Load balancers, and experience building scalable and secure cloud-based applications.

Knowledge of RESTful API design principles.

Experience with version control systems, preferably Git, and understanding of best code management and collaboration practices.

Proficiency in writing and maintaining unit, integration, and end-to-end tests using testing frameworks such as Jest, Mocha, or Jasmine.

Good knowledge of software development best practices, including design patterns, code modularity, and maintainability.

Strong problem-solving skills, with the ability to analyse complex issues, develop practical solutions, and adapt to changing requirements.

Excellent communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to work effectively in a team-oriented environment.

In this role, you will: 

  • Build and improve the accuracy of ML models, including retraining and optimizing open-source models to solve Samsara-specific problems
  • Work with petabyte-scale data from Samsara camera and sensor devices to develop new models
  • Optimize models for inference on the backend and/or on edge devices
  • Partner with hardware and full-stack teams to deploy model for optimal performance and cost

Samsara’s Compensation Philosophy:Samsara’s compensation program is designed to deliver Total Direct Compensation (based on role, level, and geography) that is at or above market. We do this through our base salary + bonus/variable + restricted stock unit awards (RSUs) for eligible roles.  For eligible roles, a new hire RSU award may be awarded at the time of hire, and additional RSU refresh grants may be awarded annually. 

We pay for performance, and top performers in eligible roles may receive above-market equity refresh awards which allow employees to achieve higher market positioning.

    Commercial Training Administration:

    Software Engineer - Control Systems

    We are looking for a hardworking and creative Software Engineer with experience in developing highly-available, scalable and reliable software systems. We are a team of backend engineers that are focused on customer configuration management and delivery. We expect this position to help us evolve our configuration system as well as the engine that validates, compiles and ships customers’ configuration to our distributed POPs across the globe.

    Our tech stack includes Perl, Go, C++ Docker, AWS

    What You'll Do

    • Develop components or features that have a direct impact on how customers configurations are managed, and shipped to the edge
    • Write code in Perl
    • Support and deploy applications written in Go
    • Collaborate with your teammates through code and design reviews
    • Build for the continued reliability and scaling needs of the Fastly Control Systems
    • Participate in on-call rotation
    • Contribute to the core infrastructure and platform needs of the team by working with tools and frameworks like Terraform, Kubernetes

    What We're Looking For

    • In order to be successful in this role, you have a minimum of 2 years of experience developing applications in one of the following languages Perl, Go or C++
    • Understanding of best principles for system design 
    • You are eager to learn new domains, grow your skills, and move up the stack
    • Strong written and verbal communication skills
    • A great teammate: communicative, collaborative, empathetic
    • You have experience working with teams distributed across different time zones

    We value a variety of voices, so this is not a laundry list. It would be an added bonus if you have experience in ANY of these:

    • Building, analyzing, profiling, or debugging large-scale distributed systems
    • API development
    • Caching
    • Varnish
    • Previous experience working with Fastly is a plus

    Work Hours: This position will require you to be available during core business hours as well as evenings and weekends as needed to participate in the on-call support rotation.

    Salary:

    The estimated salary range for this position is $133,200 to $166,500

    Job Description

    The Underwriting & Credit organization’s mission is to redefine credit and liquidity through simple, fair, and accessible credit solutions that build financial health and resilience. This team builds and integrates ML solutions for evaluating customer cash flow risk including risk of default on credit obligations, risk of fraud & abuse of loans and other situations where Cash App advances funds or provides liquidity to customers. We support multiple products in Cash. 

    As a member of the team, you will design, build and launch credit products and features. We build our services over Cash App's ever-evolving infrastructure, and as a senior engineer on the team, you will embrace these changes and scale our tech stack to promote future evolvability. This is an exciting opportunity to make a direct, tangible impact on our product and work on projects that are critical to the business’s success. You'll be reporting to an Engineering Manager and working on a distributed team with members in the USA and Canada.

    You will:

    • Be responsible for designing, building and managing the distributed services for Underwriting & Credit Cash App
    • Creatively solve challenging technical problems at scale
    • Demonstrate high code quality, good test coverage and other engineering best practices 
    • Work on impactful, multi-person projects that cross Engineering team boundaries
    • Collaborate with product, analysts, and modelers on planning and implementing frictionless user experiences

    Qualifications

    You have:

    • 6+ years of backend software development experience in building and maintaining applications in any mainstream language such as: Java, JavaScript, Python, Kotlin, Ruby, Go, Swift, C++
    • Enthusiasm about solving business problems with technology and can take ownership of an end-to-end solution
    • Passion about continuously learning new technologies, frameworks, and services
    • Possess an execution mindset and the ability to deliver with cross-functional teams that are globally distributed
    • Serious about testing and have experience with automated testing frameworks
    • Passion for Cash App's mission of economic empowerment
    • Experience of ML model-related experience is a bonus
