As a Distributed Systems Engineer at Cloudflare, you’ll work on the code that runs close to the end user, runs at a massive scale, and is deployed to 250+ cities around the world.

Examples of software systems at Cloudflare include:

  • A TLS/HTTP proxy to make the connection from eyeball to edge as fast and secure as possible
  • Filtering malicious traffic and handling good traffic according to customer configuration
  • Content optimization that takes content served from customer sites and makes it more performant
  • A platform that runs “serverless” Workers and provides a key value store
  • A reverse-proxy system that caches customer website content according to customer configuration
  • Optimization of connections from Cloudflare to our customers' origin servers to reduce their load and increase performance

We operate some of the fastest, and most widely distributed services on the Internet. Your work will focus on building robust, secure, and high performance distributed systems. We are a small engineering team operating at a massive scale, so what you do will have a huge impact.

  • Understanding at the protocol level, including the differences between what the specs say, and what actually happens on the Internet
  • Confidence to work in multiple programming languages - could include C, Go, Rust, Python, Lua and even PHP

  • For Colorado-based hires: Estimated annual salary of $137,000 - $167,000
  • For New York City, Washington, and California (excluding Bay Area) based hires: Estimated annual salary of $154,000 - $188,000

Quality Engineer

Requirements

  • Prior experience implementing SPM.
  • 5+ years experience supporting the implementation, administration, configuration, and/or development of an ITSM tool.
  • 4+ years experience in ServiceNow development – experience should include scripting, tool configuration, design work, technical configuration, and deployment; specifically, candidates shall possess the skill to develop on the ServiceNow platform including the creation and/or customization of the core applications 
  • 5+ years with working or developing in any one of the following programming languages: JavaScript, PHP, C, Java, Perl, HTML or HTML 5.
  • Generating detailed documentation.
  • US Citizenship

Mission:

Qualifications

  • This position is player/coach and we are targeting someone with 2+ years of experience managing a small team of developers.

Job Description:

  • Be a Security Champion in an agile Security Engineering team owning and operating the services you build
  • Research, specify, and test cloud hosting architectures leveraging your web, database, and OS knowledge
  • Debug the toughest distributed systems production issues

Job Requirements:

  • 3+ years of related experience in Security Engineering 
  • Cloud security and compliance experience using AWS (e.g., Firewalls, IDS/IPS systems, DDOS prevention and PCI-DSS, HIPAA, FedRAMP, etc.)
  • Strong software development background using any general programming language
  • Understanding of Kubernetes
  • Passion for websites and website delivery architecture
  • Deep, working knowledge of LAMP stack--OS, web server, and database systems (Linux, Apache, and MySQL preferred)
  • Linux packages (e.g., Debian or RPM packages); RHEL and Ubuntu experience
  • Networking (e.g., TCP/IP, Routing, DNS, load balancing, HTTP caching, clustering, VPN, etc.)
  • Holistic understanding of the Internet and hosting from the network layer up through the application layer.
  • Excellent organizational and communication skills, both verbal and written
  • BS in Computer Science or equivalent experience
